Not sure if it's necessary to have single stage threads, given our recent response rate, so I thought it might be better to portion them into more user friendly sizes.
Hence the Denmark opener.
Updated startlist:
http://www.cyclingfever.com/editi...tartlijst&editie_idd=MjI5MTI=
Stage 1: Herning ITT 8.7kms
Stage 2: Herning-Herning 206kms
Stage 3: Horsens-Horsens 190kms

depends whether you count stage 7 as being first week or second week (it is on the second saturday).
anyway looking at the fsecond and third stage, how big a factor will the wind be on that day.
i'll be missing the sunday stage but hopefully get the highlights on monday morning _________________ Hi |

I think the idea of starting in Denmark and having a rest day after three days is nearly as silly as having the World Cup in Qatar. What to both of these events have in common?
Highest point in Denmark 171m. Highest point in Qatar 103m. But in both places, the wind is said to be the factor. The wind, which sometimes does not blow.
I will still watch both events, but it is pretty silly.
My wife says maybe money has something to do with it. _________________ Politics and Cycling in the South of France http://thomasvasil.wordpress.com/ |

Indeed Nolte!
Still, hopefully it can be used by the 3 members who will be watching the race?
Anyhow, here's something that you won't get from the ASO.
The full Giro roadbook to view, or even better, to save a copy, since it's in PDF format:
http://www.gazzetta.it/Speciali/Giroditalia/2012/it/GARIBALDI.pdf
I've just got mine. |

Thanks Huw. The Ligurian correspondent might even post a few photos when the race visits those parts
Talk here of the possibility of snow in central and northern parts of Italy on Friday so that might have an impact as the race goes on. |

Indeed.
It may be 416 pages (some rather blurred) long, but the roadbook tells the tale of those second weekend climbs.
Rocca di Cambio is not very impressive; sub Montevergine, even.
In fact, the route is more reminiscent of a bog standard TDF. |

I'm still quite sure without a dominant force like Bertie, the 10 or so contenders going there thinking that they have a chance will light up the racing on those mountain finishes. Even better if there are a few "not so steep" ones, so even guys like RK can test their legs. I don't know. I'm quite optimistic about it being a very open, close Giro - until Stages 19 & 20 that is _________________ Has the new Boogie arrived?? |

Watched Rai's Giro presentation show, this evening.
The ITT course if technically difficult, with something like 16 corners and a cobbled section in the first half.
If, as forecast, they get a shower tomorrow afternoon, things could get tricky. |

| The technical difficult of the prologue depends entirely on how tight they make the corner. If they're generous with the barriers and the road surface is good (and dry!) they won't have a problem sweeping round on a TT bike. |
