Exactly....the teams use this early race for training. There are a few team who come here to be competitive....like BMC....but most do training rides.
Besty....I too am looking forward to the race and seeing you and Mary!! |

Well, I wonder if he's just going to help Levi win it. |

| I'll be there for the prologue and stage 1 in Sacramento and Davis. Can't wait. I used to live in Rancho Bernardo, the last stage finish city, and rode some of the route! Was hoping to get back for the race but can only make it to the start this time. Fingers crossed for some nice weather. |

Go for it, Ändy! Although I don't think it's his sort of parcours. One love to see him get one over on TUE, though. _________________ "You can't win races with passion alone."

Absolutely true......if cyclingnews to be believed:-
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2009/jan09/jan14news
Schleck has still a month before starting racing and will use the weeks ahead to increase the intensity of his training.
"I start in Tour of California, then Paris-Nice," he told Cyclingnews. "I will do Milan San Remo, and also Criterium International. Next will be the Tour du Pays Basques, then the main goal in the first part of the season, [namely] Amstel, Fleche and Liège." |

Nice to see a real GC contender riding such a full season instead of the patented Hogstrong 'preparation' method that Contador's following _________________ I'm just looking for one divine hammer |

I must be honest. I found California to be one of the "get together" highlights of last year. Each stage generated plenty of interest, here and the net coverage was far better that in it's foundation year.
Hopefully, things will be even better, this year.
It may be an early season "leg warmer", with some bland parcours, but the stage in which Gesink and Leipheimer, held off the charging group, was really exciting.
However, my special memory of last year's race, was the Berck/Cape "we are really twins" photo.

I agree, and have very happy memories of following it in the dark evenings last year, and as you say it did generate a lot of discussion and interest here - it felt more accessible and more of an event than many middling European stage races, and Gesink was a real highlight. And it was interesting to get the perspective of the US posters at the race or following it, too. For me it's the new start to the season, and I'm very pleased that the field has some big names in it. |

looking forward to the wonderful Californian scenery and hopefully a couple of decent bunch sprints but apart from that it is just a training race for the big boys.
As i have to watch it on Versus with Ligget, Sherwen and Roll i will be keeping the mute button on so i dont have to hear them sucking up to Armstrong and his every move _________________ Porridge makes you go faster |
