Although we talk about the Spring classics, we're still a couple of days short of the official start of Spring (depending on where you live). As good a point as any to recap on the season. Podium's currently a wheel throw between Huw, Kathy and Fontfroide:

There's been a few catchup posts today, so I'll just draw attention to Kathy having started the Catalunya FP thread so it doesn't get lost amongst the housekeeping. Starts tomorrow.

This is not a complaint, nor a criticism, nor anything negative at all.  Certainly not an ungrateful swipe at the hardworking folks who put results together. But...

Am I missing what might be called a summary of the results up to the Giro.  I am curious how it  is going, after the end of the Classic season.

Giro results seem be totally prompt, which is great even though I have not scored single point yet.

However, I am totally patient and nothing changes about the Classics results if they are published after the Giro.

Thanks.

I know I have to do them. This week. Maybe. Actually thought I had posted some up in April. PC messed up the Giro spreadsheet tonight so I had to rebuild that, and now it's time to get California started . . .

I thought long and hard before I posted, since i am very grateful for someone to do the scorekeeping.  So no hurry even hinted at.  I thought it might have fallen between two dedicated workers, each thinking the other was going to do it, and that you were so busy with your own real life that you might have just plain forgot.

No hurry.  I am certain we have a life that is slightly more important than our scores on FPs for the classics.

To make it a bit easier to catch up I split between the one day classics and the stage races. That means that points carried forward is from post to post rather than from temporal window to temporal window. I hope that makes sense for those that like to scrutinise these things.

First up the Spring Classics. Easy enough to see that Huw was the winner of these (268 points) with his line lit up across most of the board. I manage 2nd by virtue of everyone else indulging my Valverde picks (180 points) and Fontfroide rounds out 3rd (153 points).

And here are the three stage races from Aprilish. Once again the steady block of colour across Huw's line tells the story (688 points), Fontfroide tries to keep him honest at 472 points and Gerry rounds out 3rd (325 points) by virtue of a very strong Catalunya.

Overall heading into the Giro, Huw leads comfortably from Fontfroide and Gerry. Nevertheless, there are literally 1000s of points in play in May alone, so things can change quickly.

Merci bien, bit of a voluntary job, without immense rewards.  Except the pleasure of  job done well.

So this is what I think the overall standings are after May. Huw still leads, but less comfortably and there is a bit of catching up going on behind him.

So here we are heading into Le Tour. Huw actually stretched his lead by a few points in June and Gerry jumped to within a few points of the podium. GTs generally tend to shake things up though, so lets see what July brings Smile
