Apparently he's been spooted in Southern California riding a Seven !

Is he looking for a US team?

slipstream?

They've got the foundations of a good squad there; just need a leader to catapult them to the next level...

Also might have money to burn if they market themselves well.

But is Basso damaged goods? I know he kinda half admitted doping; but it was the most qualified confession ever. Might not be what they want commercially, even if he will win races.

He did admit all, in a way. The fact remains people seem to love Basso. I must admit I'm a fan of his myself.

wasn't it more:

"well, I did give a few bags of blood, but I didn't dope... I mean, I may have doped in the future; but I haven't doped... I was prepared to dope if necessary; but never actually doped"

could be wrong?

& true, he looks in terrific shape.

Yep thats more or less what he said, he attempted doping, but never did.....blah blah blah!!!!!

And yes I agree with you both he is looking very very fit. He was not lying about his determination to get back. I'm glad to see that.

Slipstream is in Colorado.

There has been a rumor he has had contact with Rock. Gag. Basso, Landis, Sevilla, Botero. What a team.

Barloworld is also after him.

Will Rock last the year? Not to sure, myself. Though I suppose they're a plaything for their boss, so anything can happen!

& even if they do, will they get any decent wildcards? Basoo along might squeeze a Giro position; but le Tour? Can't see it happening.

Hell, I'm probable wrong, but I can't see Basso coming back into a squad which may have the Tour of California as its season objective. It's not worth (potential) professional suicide for, surely?

He has really got his mind together since his 5 year old daughter said 'daddy no more of this OP business, let them suspend you and leave you alone'.

Basso said that hearing these words made his blood freeze. He didn't mention whether he then stored it in a bag and labelled it 'Brillo'

All credit to Procycling for that gem.

Barloworld would be the way to go. They should be in for sure for next year.

Barloworld would be a good choice, but if they take him will they be able to ride the tour?

Or can the ride the tour so long as he is not in the team for that race?

I like Basso - and I'd love to see him in Slipstream, it would suit him somehow.

Barloworld are not a Protour team.  The two extra years rule only applies to protour teams so Basso could sign for Barloworld ( I hope he does).  The Protour could well be a dead duck very soon anyway.  It's up to ASO who rides in the Tour.

I never quite got my head around this suspension business. They get suspended for two years, then can't sign for a Protour team for a further two years.  But they can sign for a pro continental team, and can ride for that team in a Protour race if the team isgiven a wildcard.  Strange??

You mean they didn't think this ProTour thing through?

I seriously doubt he would be well suited in that kit:

Bozo the Clown wouldn't be well-suited for that kit.

Basso will end up with Barloworld or one of the Italian teams.

Looks to be doing a bit of charity work in the opening picture - I think Intervita is the charity he's doing stuff for at the moment.

nah Basso ain't suited to Rock racing

Basso admitted to attempting to dope and so would be a person non gratuitis for Rock racing

Rock only go for ******** who dope but don't have the balls to admit that they are dopers and instead try to weasle out of it with embarrassing crap like vanishing twins or my dog died and i was very close to the dog, so close that somehow his blood got into my bloodstream or i'm colombian, we don't have any drugs in colombia

err, yeah.
