The number of times I have bet on some guy to do well, and after he flakes out in the second week he turns out to have some condition that means I lose, and so does the rider.... who can read all that stuff.  Or like Landa, Dennis and Yates, he crashes or ... in the case of Pirazzi on one of my teams, eliminated before he even turns a pedal.

Mind you, I could have thought about that and not bet on him, but heck, its only a game.  But it does resemble life a bit.

You would think that with all the might of science and trainers, FDJ could find a way to get Thibaut through a rest day with enough oomph to do well the day after.  He seems to resist whatever they tell him to do.  Bit of a lad.  But he says I am going to WIIN the ITT and he barely beats Quintana.  Not sure what that is all about, but that tendency not to be reliable and consistent and so forth means he still might end up being a gifted climber who won't ever win anything much.  Strange.

Although actually none of it is a surprise.  He has been like this from the beginning.  One of those local guys who really wants to hang out and fish in the end he bought, and live in the same place he has always he]ived in.  However, I will still bet on him.  Just prepared for disappointment and the odd surprise.

Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  I have to agree, in fact since we were invaded by a very lovely Italian girl, i daren't say anything negative about Italy... It would appear my Idiot Son has finally grown up and seen some sense...  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing[/quote]

Laughing  Laughing Thought it was a strange commentary today.  I'm biased, but they seemed to be suggesting Nibali was having a bad day when quite clearly he was best of the rest.

Stunning (but expected) ride by Dumoulin and a case of what might have been for Thomas.  I can't see Dumoulin losing this, but it has made for a good race now.  Quintana needs to take a lot of time in the mountains so we should be in for some aggressive riding ... so anything can happen.

Streamed the RAI highlights last night, I need to learn more of the language! Big Tom looked pretty devastating, Pinot was just poor and Quintana..... Nibs and Gee did well especially after the crash at the weekend. It's Toms to lose if he keeps climbing as well as he did on Sunday

Simple explanation - commentators don't do maths.
To be fair Nibali did start slowly so it looked like he was going to have a bad day - perhaps they, or he, had visions of the Siusi ITT.
But once he was well through the second timer it was clear he was doing well. Not sure at what point, if at all, the commentators recognised that.

If any final proof was needed that Campenaerts wasn't fully focused on rewarding FF's faith in him yesterday...
