I was book shopping on Monday and saw a novel "the invisible mile" by David Coventry which from what I got from the back was novel based on the Australian/new Zealand 1920s tour e France team.

Anyone heard of this book?

I guess I usually find autobiographies, usually with a "co-author" these days, a little bit disappointing.  After all, bike riders are not meant to be good writers, just good riders.  But I still enjoy reading Wiggins and D. Millar, both of them seem slightly better than run of the mill.

But I did enjoy Jean Bobet's book about him and his brother, Tomorrow We Ride.  Old timers.  Two of William Fotheringham's books I liked were about Coppi and Merckx, Fallen Angel and Half Man Half Bike.  I also liked In Search of Robert Millar by Richard Moore.  Sure would like an autobiography by R. Millar himself.

I will try to find some other good ones later.

'Fallen Angel' is next up for me.
Just finished Laurent Fignon's 'We Were Young and Carefree', which I found a bit hard to gauge in terms of objectivity.

Not sure about objectivity, as it is not a prime criterion for me.  But I do remember liking Fignon's book a lot.  Good style, a bit like Fignon.  In fact, sometimes I even thought he might have written it.  A pleasure.

Even when it is a journalist or historian, objectivity is a bit hard to find.  I think reading several books about Coppi might help, but even then, so many stories, so many people, such a famous guy.  Who knows?
