This sounds like it could be a good day out in Amersham:

100 mile Amersham-Brill-Amersham Sportive, with 60 & 30 mile options

The Rectory Hill Climb competition ( I'm guessing you know the climb Bart? )

A vintage 'Concours D’elegance', and usual stalls, etc., with big TV showing the Gérardmer > Mulhouse TdF stage.

Too far South of my usual stamping grounds ... I'm a creature of habit.  But it looks brilliant!!  I'll enter the hill climb and one of the sportives ... maybe the vintage one for fun!  You up for it John?

Good stuff - I'm up for it Bart!  What 'it' is i'm up for i'm not sure yet!  I might have a crack at the 60 miler.

The date clashes with the London to Brighton Night Ride i was going to do, so will need to break it to my group that i won't be doing it with them, but having done it last year i want to to this instead.

Beautiful area of the country - used to go to Amersham as a kid when we lived in Tring - I remember the duck pond, stocks and the wee local shop. Happy memories.

Used to live in Leighton Buzzard, not too far away from both of you.  Amersham, Chesham all beautiful.

If i had kept my old Peugeot Premiere could have at least been on the start line with you!

Your Hill Climb starts at 10am, and then the Vintage at 12:30pm.  My Medio Fondo starts at 8:45am, so i'll probably be back after you finish the Vintage.

Are you going to make a day of it Bart and watch the TdF stage?

Only for a year or two when I was 2 years old, but we've always kept in touch with family friends there, so spent a few summer and Christmas hols their. I still love the place.

Lovely bike Bart.  Are they Veloflex tyres by any chance?

Thx Gerry.  Yes, Veloflex tubs ... thin ones like we all had back in the day.  Not ridden them yet but they feel beautiful!  Campag hubs, Mavic 280s - under 1500g with skewers.  Not bad for 30 year old wheels!!!
