Wise words indeed. I suspect the Galibier and ADH are of the female persuasion, with their capacity to lead you on all day and then bring you to your knees in an instant. Smile

I'm only truly afraid of Mrs SR. Apparently her name translates directly to "Madame La Guillotine" in French!

I never had you pair down as Internet "Bunny Boiler" types. Just goes to show that you can't be too careful. Smile

Well, as Captain Scott said: "All that could be done has been done."

Things didn't turn out too well for him, but that's no reason not to be optimistic about the upcoming jolly to the Alps for a bit of leisurely cycling.

Final preparations have gone well, and both bike and rider were in good form in yesterday's thrash round the local loop. In fact, I ducked under the hour for the first time ever without having done any speed work and clocked a VAM of 1800m/hr on the final climb. Only a 30m ascent, but even so...Smile

Best of all, I have Tim's bike in my garage, so I can fill the confounded carbon frame with lead to make him work a bit harder. Or better still, pump something nice and dense into his tyres. Smile
