I guess like Bartali though, I have something of a dislike for the sport.
I'm no stranger to odd sporting activities - indoor rowing, my favourite sport is about as futile as it gets - but Cyclocross takes the biscuit.
Calling it Cyclocross is a marketing masterpiece, though. To call it "Running carrying a bike whilst wearing inappropriate shoes" - which is the truth - would surely be the end of it as a sport.
Still, each to their own.
