Maff: Surely you can just watch the main coverage?
I can't see France 2 and 3 going into fawning meltdown over "he who must be obeyed."
You can guarrantee they won't be waffling about MTB's, the above, kiddies question time etc.

Anyhow, the course profile in a bit more depth:-

Is there an official measure of a course's twistiness?

Hugh is absolutely right, in most ways French TV is NOT hard to handle, like some English language commentators and shows.  On the French tube you get Fignon (last show, live?) and Jalabert and the guy who fills air space.  Thierry something, most likely.  And you get all the stuff about the church we are passing, and incredible interviews recorded as the TV team races along the road to the finish.  The whole family by the roadside stuff.  I love it.   Not much on commentators eating habits, but a lot of genuine or not so genuine celebration of every damn thing French.  Including ANY French rider, even if he has won nothing much.  But it is very good coverage, in my mind, although I know one guy who dislikes Fignon.  The camera work is magic, even if everyone else gets pretty much the same picture. It really is a good show.

I am very much, looking forward to watching how "they" deal with Lance.  Given this and that.  Gotta say that Lance makes good global sports/gossip copy and story.  I somehow have not seen the hour long thing he did for French TV with the most famous French interviewer.  Should be good.  My pal in town who saw it, knows absolutely NOTHING about cycling, said he thought Lance (whose name he hadn't known before!) was honest and warm.

Funny how one man's honest and warm is another (wo)man's smug and insincere Laughing

Going by the first profile, it has Cancellara written all over it.

Going by Huw's, it might be a bit too hilly.

It Contador takes it down - and it doesn't not suit him - and with the TTT a few days later, he could top the GC from start to finish.

If the downhill is technical LL Sanchez would be the guy to steal it from Contador or Cancellara.

Can the french coverage be received online for those of us who don't want to have Harmon inflicted on us.

Sure to have at least one feed.
Belgian(French) RTBF Sat are also taking the exact times of France 2/3 coverage, it seems.
They had a bloke by the name of Eddy Marxs or something, doing the Belgian champs 2nd chair commentary, last Sunday.Wink

They always have a net feed. Question is what will not be geo restricted.

Quote:
It's not a fully flat time trial, as it goes upwards from the start (5m) to a col of the 4th Category (205m), and downhill again to Monaco to finish at the harbour of Monaco. The only hill is 7.2km long at a slope of 2.7%. Perfect for the strong riders.

The Tour is on RTBF on satellite, so the online feed probably won't be geo-restricted.

I've just watched part of the team presentation on ES.  Whoever was commentating thought Hushovd was in the Cervelo team to help Sastre Shocked

And the translation of the interview with Sastre was laughable.

Aren't these times all kind of late? 19:08?  I thought they liked the stages to end around 17:00

Must be so that everyone in the US can see Lance and Levi without getting up at the crack of dawn, Jackov.  What else would they find to do on the 4th of July? Laughing  Wink

Of course!  I myself did a short bike ride, 10 miles, with my next door neighbors. They hadn't been on bikes in years.  A very beautiful morning here, with low humidity instead of the usual fetid swamp air we get.

That's okay, dark clouds seem to follow Armstrong wherever he goes.
