Lance is going to take the jersey tomorrow, as a freak amongst mere mortals, it's almost a forgone conclusion. How will you react to seeing the most dominate athlete in the sport take the pink jersey?

Will bianchigirl throw a hissy fit?

Will MJM kill himself?

Do you really think he will do it?

He's 3 years older, and if he STILL had what it takes, would he spend it all for a Giro win or use the Giro as training for the TdF?

However, I'm very curious to see what happens Tuesday.

If I had to take off my fanboy cap and be objective I think the smart money is on Di Luca for tomorrow as the last climb suits him and I don't think he gets dropped.

What I really want to know is if we are going to see the ASTANA train on the front!!?!

He's going for the double.  You heard it here first.  Once an alpha male, always an alpha male.  There'll be new tricks for this old dog, rest assured.

he went for Pink in the TTT.  He stays out of trouble.  The climb is not THAT difficult.  If he does the job, he should get the jersey.  Not likely though.  So many others ant the jersey and are close enough to get it.  Three Columbia guys are in close proximity and can attack in turn ...

Should be fun to watch.  Could be loads of people really racing, like three or four Astanas too.  Or Liquigas.  In fact, if this stage does not show us some real racing, with an outcome totally unpredictable, I will be seriously disappointed.

Why is it that Astana do a decent TTT and LA manages to stay on his bike for two days and all of a sudden 'he's going for the double'?  Give me strength - LL will put three minutes into him in the ITT.

Hello...is anybody home? Time bonuses.
Even Jinxed managed to spot it.
5 Lance Armstrong (USA) Astana                                                 0.31
6 Danilo Di Luca (Ita) LPR Brakes - Farnese Vini                            0.40

If Armstrong were riding like the early 2000's, which he isn't, I doubt he'd target tomorrow's final climb.
Stage 5 is the time gainer.
Also, he ain't going to be sprinting against the likes of Kloden for the win, either.

Anyhow, no more posting here.
Strictly for the fanboy club.
On the subject of which, where's Sm to stir the shit pot?
My two pence/cents worth will be staying on the stage thread.

Apathy.

The flip-side would be 'what would your reaction be if Liestrong blows up tomorrow, or the day after?'

I think an escapee will take the jersey tomorrow or Rogers will stay close enough to the big boys for 1 day.

If by chance Armstrong does get the jersey, I would love it for no other reason than to see the reaction of the haters...Smile

Yes well there has only been one other non-European to ever win the Giro in a hundred years(excluding 2 Russians).  Americans should try harder...

Have a really tough all day meeting tomorrow so whether some fat arsed hasbeen ponces around in a pink jersey or not couldn't be furthest from my mind - sometimes there are far more important things in life than a cycle race, I'm afraid Rolling Eyes

one of rogers and lovkist has a very gud chance of sticking woth the lead group. Di luca will probably attack. This is all presuming armstrong wont be shelled out the back, as he may well be...even if he had lost nothing in 3 years you wouldnt expect him to be in gud shape in early may having broken a collarbone.

It's just a FP, Bartali; somebody had to say it.  You don't actually believe Bruyneel would tell us the truth, do you?

Someone will go for it whereas Armstrong will likely be passive.

Might be DDL. Garzelli will fancy the oppourtunty. Could be one of Lampre boys. Hell, there's nothing to suggest it won't be an Italian, even

Pink a valuable commercial commodity; it's unlikely to fall into anyone's lap, especially with so many riders within the vicinity!

My Odds for the next pink jersey winner:

1)DiLuca.................7-5(only needs to put 9 seconds into Armstrong and 20-some into Rogers.

2)Rogers........2-1(He'll be hoping for 3 riders further down the GC to take top 3, while keeping himself within 26 seconds of DDL.

3)Armstrong......5-1(If he can stay within 9 seconds of DDL and put 13 into Rogers, he'll be in Pink....The Horror!!!)

4)Lovkvist......7-1(He just has to stay within 20 seconds of DDL on a fairly easy climb and hope Rogers tanks.

5)Pellizotti......8-1(dangerous overall threat and may like the pedestrian climb)

6)Leipheimer....12-1(Not likely to get away in any breaks but he could suck the wheel of other contenders and if Rogers, Armstrong and DDL all fade away, he'd default to pink...

7)Pozzato......20-1(If he got into an escape group with men lower in GC, he could slip into pink.

8)Bosisio......30-1(same hope as Pozzato has)

9)Cunego......50-1(not likely, anyone will let him get away.

10)Sastre......100-1(returns to the form of last summer and puts 2 minutes into all rivals.

11)Basso......200-1(gets an overnight express delivery from Dr.Fuentes and puts 5 minutes into everyone.

12)Pettachi.....500-1(stage gets shortened due to Lega nord protesters blocking the final climb.

Hello anybody home? Darned right, no more posting. What fanboy club? The Planet Armstrong club you mean... Simple question of "if" and we all go discussing the whys, whos, and why nots....   Rolling Eyes  Me? I like to keep things simple.... Wink But I do enjoy the discussions mates. Keep them coming and let's not take things tpp seriously. Anyway, he related to the guy who walked on the moon some 20 odd years ago? Neil walked on the moon. Lance has a Planet! Wow!

Could be that Armstrong is being fueled by "hair-gate" and the haters...He may have entered into this comeback and giro with the purest of intentions in supporting his teammate, but when push comes to shove, he can't relax because his desire to stick it to the haters and witch-hunters over-rides his stated intentions.
