Hmm, not familiar with the bike, but I would suggest getting something better than Sora. You'll wear those parts out really fast if you are going to ride alot. I suggest to people to try and get at least 105, but nothing less than tiagra.

Yep, it does. Plus the greatest Italian cyclist ever rode on a Bianchi - as I'm sure you'd agree - Fausto Coppi!

But seriously ... its a great pedigree! Also ridden by Tommaselli, Petit-Breton, Pelissier, Girardengo, Bovet, Olmo, De Muynck, Gimondi, Bugno, Argentin, Pantani, Cipollini, Di Luca and, of course, Big Jan. Not to mention the 12 Giro, 3 TdF, 2 Vuelta, 2 ToS, 2 ToG, 19MSR, 16 Lombardy, 7 Paris-Robaix, 4 LBL, 1 RvV, 5 Fleche Wallonne, 4 Amstel, 4 Grand Prix, 2 Gent-Wevelgem, 4 Road WC, 6 Track WC etc etc won on Bianchi.

Thanks Berck, I was thinking more the Campag version anyway but appreciate the advice not being much of a techie.

I don't like the Campy shifters much. That's a personal preference and not a knock on their quality. One thing though. Shimano makes bad (Sora), good (tiagra, 105) and great (ultegra, dura ace) components. My understanding about Campy is that they don't make any 'bad' components.
Not at all. I prefer Campag, but have Shimano on my trainer ... pretty easy to switch from one to the other IMO ... but Campag and Bianchi go together like port and stilton
I assume Bartali's correct. I haven't used it a lot. I just find the Campy way a bit uncomfortable for me. I don't like the thumb shifting. Go to a bike shop and try it out.

Erm... could you elaborate just a little please, TT?
there is alot of frames thown into the mix, selling point..like clonago c50 is heavy streer.. and feels heavy to ride.. my freinds hates it.. i felt it too..
sora.... shud never have seen light of day...
look for steel.. or steel/carbon mix.. carbon on the rear stays..
gios carbon is great.. look carbon.. any of them..
alsoo team raliegh carbon.. thats sweet ride..
that bianchi is a soft frame soft slapping rear stays.. thats not a bike.

Fair enough TT, but I'm not a serious racer, more a recreational weekend rider. My last bike was a mid-priced aluminium frame with carbon forks, so the Bianchi sounds similar. I can't really justify the price of a carbon bike.
then look in the papers for 1980's steel.. i use my 1987 colnago mexico still, it sall steel..75 seat tube angle.. its the legs .. not the bike.. ciao _________________ io sono bello....and talent to boot...to bad.
Actually, now gone off the Bianchi - the new range of Boardman bikes look really good. There is a carbon frame for under a grand and it has been getting good reviews. I'm really tempted by it...

I ride a Boardman great bike for the money...just get your LBS to check it over as mine hadn't been put together properly even by the head Boardman mechanic!
