The Cobblestone Fantasy Cycling League
So its just the two of us, not much point in having a league then?
The Cobblestone Fantasy Cycling League
Notice that Maffy is also inCobblestone for the Giro.
Worth a league so we can check out our relative brilliance.

My team's called Team Bentham, Gorse is the name.

Notice that Barry Boyce seems to have a team in second place for the Giro.  I think he is the guy who does, or did, the Quiz.  Very impressed.  Knows a bit about cycling.

Yes it is him (I am also in the cobblestones subgroup too)

He is also doing very well in the overall competition

If you forgive me, I would like to brag a bit while I have the chance.
I am currently 16th.
I repeat, I am currently 16th.

How about that! However I lost a couple of riders to injury or failure, so the only way is down.

Did I mention I was 16th!

Chapeau FF - great work.  That's no mean feat!

Good going ff Smile

Thanks, guys.

But at this exact moment (like I said I lost Demare, for example) I am FIFTH.
In the whole game.  I know it will decay, but goodness gracious, a bit of luck come my way.  In conjunction with wise and experienced choices ..... SIXTH!!

two more stages down and still fifth. impressive, ff

three or four of mine are already oot.

been meaning to ask how you're liking the lack of thierry adam. i've found velo club to be very much missing retired gerard. not missing village depart, but not liking the singerists following the host to after the race.

Maffy on the front page today, fifth on the day.  Nice one.

Not sure where I fell to, but heck one or two days of glory is enough for one year.

I am down three guys, Majka, Demare, Valverde.  Pantano is as good as absent, but the rest are still there.  Kung is meant to get me points one more time.

Love it that Thierry Adam is on the moto this year.  Every time he comes on, I get that same frantic feeling, so I am glad he is gone.  Rather like Marion Rousse as a commentator.  But ... they have this guy who does LOTS of sports commentary on France 2-3.  I think he is called Laurence something.  I really don't like him at all, neither does my wife.  He has this tendency to smile and ask ambush type questions, then smile again.  Must find out his name.  But he is not a cycling expert, more an know it all about everything.

I see you (Maffy) have just taken away to the top spot on Velogames.  Judging from your team and mine, that's the last I will see of the top spot.  I admire your choices, very shrewd.

Just checked Velogames after I got back from the fireworks and the big band. Two women singer/dancers, four dancers, baritone and tenor sax, trumpet, trombone, drums, keyboards and bass guitar. Two men singer/MCs. Not bad actually. Changes of costume too.

I just wanted to correct you slightly. I am not just sixth or fifth, but on the blooming podium today. Been awhile since that has happened. One advantage of that Cobblestone Team is that I picked Kittel, Bardet and Froome, plus a few pretty good others like Pantano, Calmejean, Buchman, Meintjis and Soler, some of whom have yet to shine brightly. NONE of them crashed out or got eliminated. But the Tour is long and many things happen.  Oh yeah, Gesink, but I think he is out now, right?

But on the putain podium!

I apologise for tooting my horn, but I am fairly chuffed, even though I hold none of this fantasy league stuff high on my list of life priorities. No one in the entire south of France will even know.

Clearly something I did wrong as well as something I don't understand about Cobblestone and its system of scoring.  I guess maybe it is way more than bad luck, just plain ignorance.  I was fifth yesterday, and today, final result, 65th.

Still I felt the glory and pride for nearly ten days in the top six.  But in the end, nothing very impressive.  I guess next time, I might read the rules.  And try to take this into account.  Usually at this point, Maffy wins, I think he reads the rules.  Not this year.  Some consolation.  Maybe the jersey winners get lots of points, and I only had Froome.  Who knows?

On to the Vuelta.  See you all there.
