The missus has just enjoyed a Cotes du Rhone from the slopes of Mt Ventoux.
A lot less challenging than cycling up the mountain.

We're off to France for a couple of weeks when I get home at the end of November, our pals have booked us a vineyard trip round the Chateau Bellevue de Fronton. Some of the wines around there have some fantastic write ups, cant wait to try them out!

Beer in the midwest is fucking shit.

Craft beer = over-flavoured and over-priced wank.

Beer from a mass production source is usually fucking shit most beer I've tasted in the UK  is fucking shit I wouldn't attack just one region. Many so called craft beers are terrible but many of them are very good. There's no such thing as over flavoured.

I try to avoid UK beer at all cost.

The midwest is bad because on the one hand you have the mass produced stuff. Which is bland beyond belief, but my issue with the craft beers here (we have I think at least 4 in town) is that they have absolutely no subtlety. They seem to think that more hops = better beer.

That said, I have found that the one company that makes a pilsner does make a very good pilsner. However, most of the IPAs are not very good and the presentation is very pretentious. But that is what happens when you let hipsters brew.

Lots of good wine, but its all flat around there.  Why would you want to ride your bike where it is totally flat?   Wink

Just spotted this mate..... didn't have bike with me, either way I couldn't turned a pedal I was so ill.... I got lectured by my doc when i got home for not going to see a French doctor!!

Anyway... the vineyard trip was superb, the wine was sublime their Optimum so so good ...everything I want in a glass of red wine, been exploring Negrettes ever since. We bought a couple of cases to last us while we were there and have since found a supplier in the UK....Thankfully!!

We had a weekend at a gite in Auch (the weekend in Provence fell through) in the depths of Armagnac country. Now I'd never been a fan but "a bottle appeared" at dinner one night so I was forced to bring one home. It is a bit special.... ;0)

Blond Dubbel Tripel - or as they are called around here, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.  There was the option of a Quadrupel as well  Shocked but at 10.5% I passed up.  I fancied a weekend beer, not a nervous breakdown...

Have a good weekend people
