Enjoyed that.

Quintana, Thomas and A Yates mixing it ahead of the Giro.

GC:
Quintana
Yates @ 33"
Pinot @ 56"
Castroviejo @ 1'-01"
Dennis @ 1'-06"

Waddaya think of Pinot?  He seems to be a terribly talented rider who just can't quite do the right thing.

Is pinot targeting the tour or the giro this year?

I agree he just isn't fulfilling the immense potential he has shown. I really hope he can get it together.

Loads of action now we are on the grueling circuit.
Causing Kirby all sorts of consternation as his mouth is in constant overdrive.

First bit of sport I have seen all weekend and not a bad start at all Smile

Tough finish, and although there was probably an opportunity for some to drop Sagan with about 2.5k to go it would have meant emptying the tank a bit too much.

Consequence?  Peter Sagan wins.  He really is something else...

Compared to P-N, this turned out to be a total flop.
A little bit of fannying about from the GC boys, followed by the inevitable Sagan clifftop win.
Tomorrow, the inevitable Sagan flat stage win.

I dont think there will be enough Haribo to help him recover from today's effort hanging with the GC boys, even if they were content to take him to the line in the end.

Viviani or Modolo for me tomorrow.

You were saying?
Attacks on the final hill and still only loses to Gaviria by a third of a wheel. The rest nowhere.
A few splits, but all the GC boys home at 6 seconds, led by Thomas.

Odd finish, coming second, Sagan to me looked the most impressive out there and it tempered gaviria as it seemed a chore for gaviria to stay in front of Sagan

Dennis wins the ITT and moves above Pinot in GC.
Perhaps more surprisingly, Geraint Thomas jumps over a lack luster Tom Dumoulin.
Without the disastrous TTT and so without Thomas's subsequent stage win and 10 second bonus, the Welshman would still have won the race by 3 seconds.
