according to cyclingnews, the break contains

Here we go then. These are the breakaway men:

Ruben Fernandez, Dani Moreno and Jose Joaquin Rojas (Movistar), Deniele Bennati (Tinkoff), David Lopez (Team Sky), Tejay Van Garderen (BMC), George Bennett, Victor Campenaerts and Robert Gesink (Lotto NL Jumbo), Simon Gerrans, Jens Keukeleire and Magnus Cort Nielsen (Orica - BikeExchange), Dario Cataldo (Astana), Kenny Elissonde, Odd Christian Eiking and Alexandre Geniez (FDJ), Haimar Zubeldia and Julien Bernard (Trek - Segafredo), Jan Bakelants and Quentin Jauregui (AG2R - La Mondiale), Alberto Losada and Egor Silin (Katusha), Bart De Clercq and Sander Armée (Lotto Soudal), Gianni Meersman (Etixx - Quick Step), Moreno Moser, Pierre Rolland and Davide Villella (Cannondale - Drapac), Omar Fraile and Jacques Janse van Rensburg (Dimension Data), Mathias Frank and Larry Warbasse (IAM Cycling), Mattia Cattaneo (Lampre - Merida), Romain Hardy and Rudy Molard (Cofidis), Christoph Pfingsten (Bora-Argon 1Cool, Pello Bilbao, Hugh Carthy and Sergio Pardilla (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), Romain Sicard and Pierrig Quemeneur (Direct Energie).

i count 21 teams, who is the team not there? i think giant-alpecin which must frustrate their director sportiff, a 41 rider group goes and they have no rider in it

How did Sky get suckered into having to do the pace making ?
Movistar have Rojas as well.

It's just a track up the side of the hill.  Smile

I hope there are no punctures on the way down.

It just looked like a normal road to me for cycling Wink

Orica BE appear to be leading out their rider that they left in the peloton. Confused

Quick look at TV after I got in from bike ride and I concluded that OBE were helping out on the chase to defend Chaves and Yates. I was wrong  Confused

Kirby still calling OBE as Movistar. Embarassed

Looks as if the idea is to get Yates up the road using the 4 OBE blokes ahead.

I think Movistar have too much firepower for Yates to stay away.
He's getting a good rest now, but he'll have to do the climb al on his own.

Seems to be it is a bit more interesting than the average run up to "the last climb".  Which is such a bear that even there tactics will be intriguing.  I mean not only a break with a pretty decent lead and some fair climbers, but Orica with what appears to be quite a clever move.  Plus everything yet to be seen from the usual GC guys.  Hard to figure out what might happen.  But one thing is for sure, they will drop like flies and be all over the road on Aubisque.  It will hard to keep track after a few ks.

Still don't really see how OBE driving the break was to Yates' advantage. Anyway my main concern is Mrs. is dragging me off socialising momentarily. I will have to catch up later Evil or Very Mad

Another OBE rider just appeared.
Is that Haig ?
If so it shows that Nielsen and Gerrans aren't making all that much headway.

Yates on his own for 16km now.
Maybe he is the ultimate bridge for Chaves later on.

Hardly anyone left.
Valverde has vanished.
BMC duo have gone up the road.
A pity Astana have 2 helpers to set a pace otherwise there would a group of lone riders.

"Messing about" riding up Aubisque.  Maybe not quite the right word for what looks like two excellent races going on.  YOu must like Yates' work, hardly messing about, for example.

Yates ride has been superb.
Not quite enough gas to take the stage.
