Frankly, I much preferred yesterday's GC to today's.
Agreed!

Valverde is doing a remarkably good ride for someone at the pointy end of the Giro.  Seems to go against the perceived wisdom that you can't ride them both competitively.

Good to see Yates still there.  Funny, he never seems to do anything much, rides at the back of large groups, and in the end he is at the top.

He'll grow into it ... at the same age Froome was battling for 4th place in the Herald Sun Tour  Rolling Eyes

Agreed, I am sure will grow into it.  But it is remarkable how he was so invisible, frequently riding the back of the leading group, tempting the French commentators to frequently say he was being dropped, but then realising he was not.  Just sort of hung out with the big guys and in the end, there he was.  Clearly a fine rider.  I always like seeing young riders break into the big time.  Before you know it, they are retiring.  I think Yates' career will last longer than I do.

Adam Yates has been slapped with a 10 second penalty for a handsling that occurred off camera.

Unlike the last ASO race, where it happened on camera and yet didn't receive any penalty.

Just ask Senor Contador.

The cycling gods must love Nairo "where is Froome's rear wheel?" Quintana.

F**k me, isn't Quintana one unimaginative wheel sucker?  He makes Cadel look like Ricco.  If thats his idea of a three week challenge he might as well just stay at altitude and leave Europe out altogether.

Huw, re Yates penalty, didn't you notice who was in second? Wink

Still showing 4 minutes down on the bunch, when in effect he was some seconds in front when their equipment failure caused him to crash......
Now, who is in the white jersey again? Rolling Eyes

Is that the same bloke as Nairo "attack when the race is neutralised" Quintana?

I fear there may be more tears ahead for some.
The weather looks set to continue to produce something that the riders have failed to do: a meaningful attack on the GC.

Re:The inclusion of the Col de la Ramaz.

I have been able to find nothing to the contrary, so I presume it will be climbed.

I take no pleasure in watching these guys cycling in cold rain, whether climbing or descending.  Perhaps will lead to some surprises, which I am in favour of.  But I do wish it would be grey or a bit windy rather than raining.  I guess the wind being not that bad is something.  I really hope no one crashes.  Let's face it, watching or riding, I tend to be a fair weather type of guy.

Whether they are right or wrong, those lightning bolts on the tops of the last two climbs mean we won't see much anyway.

But that is cycling, as we are meant to say.

It's total chaos already, will probably settle down, but the SKY led group is not so big... 35 or more in the break and Barguil somewhere in between them

Out of rain, into rain, back out of rain.
At least the first wet descent has been tackled with safety.

When I wake up from my nap, I do not want to read anything about any crashes.  I hope I make myself clear.  I should be awake to see the next big descent though, then settle in for the last scene of the last act of a fairly interesting drama.  Not the best, but looking like it might finish well.

Sagan doing superdomestique duties for Kreuziger.
He's outpacing Sky all on his own.

Roman into 2nd on the road. I guess ag2r and Movistar might lend a hand into the chasing on Ramaz now

Sky are very good at this aren't they.
Deliberately set a pace that they know will make others panic and come forward to work at the front.

Although Astana might just be wanting to start things up for the next climb.

Why on earth are Astana on the front?

Aru is miles from the podium - and can attack later to improve his position. Nibali is up the road smashing it with 2010 liquigas alumni roman and peto...

WHY WHY WHY??

You really have to ask?

Kreuziger is up to 2nd on the virtual GC and they blinked first.

Haha again Astana go too hard and end up chipping off the front of the peloton. #awkward

Yeah. There's no rule that says that Sky have to keep up with them.
