Tom Dumoulin's lead unlikely to be threatened, or does this course suit some of the GC men enough for them to threaten?

I know not and at this mid afternoon point of affairs, I don't care much either.
Hurry up, you lot.

What you need is a TTer that can climb really well.
The BMC pair would seem to be the biggest unknowns.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Valverde finish ahead of Quintana.

Interesting that what you might consider the pure climbers are doing worse on the initial 7km ramp.

Porte 1'08" down on Tom after the next flat bit.

Chrono #2 has gone funny - it has been missing some riders all day and it is out of action again now.
So have to wait for Chrono #3.

Froome takes a minute off Mollema, who takes a minute off Valverde and slightly more off everyone else.
Bardet drops slightly
#8, #9 and #10 all struggle.

Suddenly we have some big gaps (which a long ITT is prone to do).

Code:
1.       GBR FROOME Christopher   1   TEAM SKY       58h 02' 51''
2.(+2)   NED MOLLEMA Bauke   61   TREK - SEGAFREDO   58h 04' 38''   + 01' 47''
3.(-1)   GBR YATES Adam   209   ORICA-BIKEEXCHANGE   58h 05' 36''   + 02' 45''
4.(-1)   COL QUINTANA Nairo   11   MOVISTAR TEAM     58h 05' 50''   + 02' 59''
5.(+1)   ESP VALVERDE Alejandro   12   MOVISTAR TEAM 58h 06' 08''   + 03' 17''
6.(+1)   USA VAN GARDEREN Tejay   99   BMC RACING TEAM 58h 06' 10'' + 03' 19''
7.(-2)   FRA BARDET Romain   41   AG2R LA MONDIALE   58h 06' 55''   + 04' 04''
8.(+3)   AUS PORTE Richie   91   BMC RACING TEAM     58h 07' 18''   + 04' 27''
9.       IRL MARTIN Daniel   184   ETIXX-QUICK STEP  58h 07' 54''   + 05' 03''
10.(-2)   ITA ARU Fabio   21   ASTANA PRO TEAM       58h 08' 07''   + 05' 16''

Thanks for those timings, Mazda.
Saved me from posting them.
Talking of which.
The next stages may be a bit late.
Off into town for the evening's cycling events shortly

I am awaiting another explosion of BF outrage and this time, imo, it's well justified:-

Just catching up with this one. Nairo has really gone down in my view this Tour. Poor form, constantly moaning (or at least his team PR is) and now this??

Just as well Bauke kicked his short ass today.

Well well well .... I'm not sure he gets an advantage by hanging on, probably more to steer his way through the melee .... but rules are rules!!

To my point from yesterday though.  I think my gripe is that the rules seem always to be applied in a way that protects the big money teams and star riders while the little guys suffer.

As for today (and yesterday) I'm pretty "surprised" by Mollema doing such a good ITT and being able to hang with Froome and Porte on the Ventoux.

It's pretty clear barring some illness or injury Froome has this one wrapped up. It would've been far more interesting had they just kept the times unadjusted - at least it would make next weeks procession a bit digestable for the non-SKY fans.

The near 2 mins Froomey lost by running up the mountain without a bike, would've been taken back today, barring a few exceptions like Bauke. Hanging with Froome/Porte on a mountain I can believe - Bauke has always shown some good form in the GTs but tends to tail off in third week quite badly - so i'm hoping the Alps don't become a week too far - his new-found aggressive racing style deserves a spot on the podium.

As a l'Avenir winner, it shouldn't come as a surprise that putting it all together, Mollema could be a contender. Usually illness or some bad luck has ruined his GC bid though (wasn't it in 2013 where he was matching Froome until Ventoux then faded badly?). To balance this summary - i'm also pretty shocked that he pulled out such a good TT.. that's form rather than something else, hopefully.
