Cav confounds the critics.
Meanwhile, half of my Velogames team gets to inspect the French tarmac as my kiss of death season remains in full swing.

Looked a little from the replay as if Kittel thought he only had Sagan to beat and more or less eased his way around him for the win.  He appeared shocked when he looked to his right and saw Cavendish I thought...

Sammy Bennett down in the crash?

On the list of finishers available so far, Bennett isn't there yet

Other thing on results list on letour.fr, they are currently giving time gaps on the classification. Quintana and froome at 33 seconds on gc, porte, dumoulin, aru and nibali at 42 seconds on gc.

Martin, van garderen, bardet appear on stage result at same time time as aru, nibali but not yet on GC

Contador for stage at 55 seconds so if they keep gaps that is 1'05

No sign of pinot on results yet

Though I think times will be revised on the gc

Bennett came in 2'21" down and holding his right arm/shoulder.  Not looking so good...

That's interesting. Tinkoff team had said that Bookwalter crashed in front of Contador and brought him down as well. Goes to show that what should be a simple case of taking "eye witness" account is not so straightforward.

Pleased for Cavendish today. His Tour career deserved a Yellow Jersey at some point.

De Jongh has now apologised to BB via twitter and blamed the info. Wink

Paul Voss and Cesare Benedetti (Bora-Argon 1Cool, Vegard Breen (Fortuneo-Vital Concept) and Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo) now have a lead of 5 and a half minutes.

Today's weather map:-

Contador, J-Rod, T Martin, Matthews, Kittel all amongst those that are down at 120k.  DDD sit up so they should all get back on.  Kelly giving out yards about the narrow roads and street furniture in the finale

Any UCI penalties for excessive sticky jackets?

Etixx are in an interesting position. I think martin to follow attacks and if unsuccessful, alaphillippe for the sprint

Is that 8 or 6 minutes.interesting that in against recent years where the breakaway at a close 5 minutes, they let it go out

Edit - it is 6 minutes gap

Still 5'40 gap with 48km left

Are they letting the breakaway contest the stage?

Just in after a bike ride. Surely the break will be caught - the yellow jersey is at stake.

2'20 with 11km. Sean Kelly thinks it'll be tight

No one really wanted to take over from dimension data.
I guess GC teams didn't want the responsibility yet.

Stuyven attacks

Contador dropped thanks to the hard work of tinkoff/kreuziger. Good work Wink

Alaphillippe went a bit too early

Porte at 1'43 due

And face pal when Carlton Kirby misread the time thing and saying stuyven will make it

Just caught up.
They climbed a small hill that left some GC men with a mountain of deficit.
As Nolte said: Kreuziger wtf?
The annual Sagan show gets into full swing with Little Sagan his closest rival.

Kirby? Words can no longer describe this hysterical, clueless clowns contribution that is already ruining this Le Grand Boucle.

Kreuziger is on great form, winning the CZ/SK combined championships last week on a hilly course.. he looked thinner than i ever saw him before.. but i guess they expected Bertie to keep up.
