Nibali's podium is but a pipe dream on this showing.. damn Sad

Front 3 still together and still putting time into Chaves... reckon Kruiswijk will try something (he hasn't won a stage yet)

Chaves group still at 26".
Nibali at about a minute  Sad
Pozzovivo not done a single turn to help (so as soon as I say that he comes alongside)

A lot of credit to Chaves.
He has done an amazing amount of work today - same as Zakarin.

Taking its toll though, Chaves group losing time at last.

Valverde outsprints Kruijswijk.
Zakarin crawls over 8" later.
Then Ulissi and Jungels.
Nibali at 1'46".
I think he stays ahead of Zakarin

So nothing to suggest Kruijswijk was in any difficulty today.
He covered numerous attacks with ease and was confident to follow Zakarin at every opportunity rather than cover Chaves and Nibali.

Gap to Chaves is now 3'00
Valverde 3'25 or so.

Great stage.................thanks to Nibali having pretty awful form.
He'll keep attacking, hoping he finds it, until there is no race left.

I think you have to give Zakarin the bulk of the credit for today.
Perhaps a fully fit Nibali might have nullified Zakarin a bit, or he might have ruffled SK a bit. We'll never know.

Great GC stage that.  The terrain and profile was a little reminiscent of Fuente De, and while it didn't have the same massive impact on GC as Contador's attack did, it still wreaked a bit of havoc.

So - Piti is back, and so is Zakarin.  Chaves is gutsy, Jungle Bob even gutsier,  and Nibali ist kaput.  Hasn't SK been flawless though?  He is riding like a proper boss, and so far looks unbeatable - he just keeps increasing his lead, and it's difficult to imagine him losing time at the moment.

Just visited the ciclismo internacional site.
There is a rather out of date vote, but still active, for who you think is going to win the Giro.
Kruijswijk is not even in the list of 10 to 12 options to vote for !

Uran is - was - favourite.
Even now "Other" only has 5% of the votes.

Just watching it back, at KM15 when Zakarin responds and counterattacks Valverde, there's a respite and Nibs is nearly within touching distance, then Zakarin keeps doing these little digs each for 50-100m and the gap widens out until Nibs is swallowed up by Jungels and Chaves' groups. Still.. he went backwards fast on the 15% bit with 10km to go, so clearly he's not 100%.

Other notes:
Kruiswijk had that special paintjob on his Oltre.. but today didn't ride a custom-paintjob bike... on closer look it his 2016 Specialissima instead. I think i'm in love with that bike Very Happy
