What's up with Nibs ... he looked completely 'out of sorts' on the last climb yesterday.  Riding well back in the group ???

Another odd stage where Nibali looked like he was hanging on near the end.

Great last 20 kms of action packed viewing........................for those of us not lumbered with Eurosport. Laughing
Seriously, their current ad break policy is totally ruining the experience.
Sporza meanwhile, are playing the usual blinder.

RoboBob Jungels is the revelation of the race, so far.
Ulissi bags his brace and will probably sit back and take it easy from now on.

I guess Nibali lost at least 5 or 6 team mates in the crash so was probably content to stick with Valverde who he must see as his biggest rival.  Still think he looks out of sorts though ...

haven't seen it yet, but the pics and the live commentary were suggesting Nibs had a little dig down the descent, forcing the pace at some points... despite losing his teammates.

He looked good on the decent, but fail to follow Amador and then Jungles choosing to hide in the middle of the group rather than up front.  That said ... I think he is watching Valverde like a hawk.

Rather liked the last 30k of the race.  Some action, some ducking and diving, a bit of suspense.  Not really changing much, but suggesting a lot.  Jungels seems to be riding seriously.

Nibali looking not too bad, not really worrying much about a few seconds, but still trying out a few moves that didn't succeed.  Valverde also hanging out waiting for the right time.  Seems like a race waiting for a bit of an explosion.

Quite sad that Landa is not there in fine form.  Besides having picked him for a team or two, he seemed the kind of rider who would contribute to some uncertainty.  Oh well.

Bart, seems i have a bit more confidence in Nibs than you do at the minute... but i think he is aware that moves so far result in seconds. In the 3rd week attacks will produce minutes.

I agree with the Boogeyman.
Vicenzo is keeping in touch with Valverde until next week because he has ridden enough racing miles with him to know his strengths and must have a plan for the high mountains.
Must have faith in Vicenzo, Bart as I have him as the FP man to win and so far I can't see a problem.

I think this Giro is more entertainining again than recent French Tours.

Nibali doesn't seem entirely right though (at least in terms of his past tranquilo form when winning GCs). Complaining yesterday about Valverde not attacking and unsure of how he should treat Amador. Having been usurped within his own team, form a bit patchy and being the focus of the home media / fans, I could see why his head would not be 100%.

I'm sure he'll be okay.  Even if his form isn't 100% he can take some consolation from all maybe not being quite right at camp Movistar.  I reckon Amador is wrecking Piti's mojo more than Astana are messing with Nibs'...

Does Jungle Bob have a TDF in him one day?  I hope he at least hangs with the 'second favourites' in on some of the big climbs, and doesn't go crazy trying to match the main GC guys.  His real scrap will be for the white jersey, where he has 5 minutes in hand.  It would be folly to lose that classification by over-reaching for pink.

The points competition is fairly warm though...

1 André Greipel (Ger) Lotto Soudal 119 pts
2 Arnaud Demare (Fra) FDJ 103
3 Diego Ulissi (Ita) Lampre - Merida 100
4 Giacomo Nizzolo (Ita) Trek-Segafredo 97
5 Maarten Tjallingii (Ned) Team LottoNl-Jumbo 82

I can't see BJ hanging on, not like Tom did last year.
He won't be helped by the remaining ITT and arguably would have profited a lot more with a dry ITT in Chianti.
There are 6 mountain days and it will be relentless when it comes. A shame Brambilla lost so much time.

Why does Nibs want Valverde to attack ?
Did he mean he wanted him to help more when they got free on the downhill ? Possibly in anticipation of a similar situation on Friday or Saturday ?
You'd have to say that his current position in the standings would be ideal for the Nibs of old.
Valverde always loses time somewhere in a GT.
If Nibs is moaning then perhaps it is a sign he doesn't feel 100%.

I think that was simply that Nibs Piti and Chavez had an ideal opportunity to steal some time back on Amador, Jungles and Special K ..... but Piti / Amador obvs had another plan.

Naughty Gerry ... good pic though Smile

Nibali :-  he revealed he wasted a lot of energy during the recent Liege-Bastogne-Liege race,
Vicenzo IMO is playing mind games again.
The same as he did in that TDF where he got them so confused with themselves that they lost their concentration.

Poor old Alejandro sending his team down the road to fluster Vicenzo who joins in the game and confuses the Movistar Team even more.
So who is playing with who ??.......I think I know and I'm looking forward to it. Very Happy

Fantastic at those speeds.

I think valverde is letting amador go on these attacks gaining a couple of seconds on non-decisive stages, the gains for amador have been small on these stages and effort has been a good bit on his part.

The first 12 stages have not seen any big gaps and from third to twelfth, it is a 2 minute gap
