Tis time to get this one going. Pleased that Boonen is looking strong so we hopefully don't just get an afternoon of Cancellara being marked out of it. I've stripped the warm up from the profile below. Sorry if it's a bit big, just trying to make it legible
I think since it's even more a race of attrition this year and the flattish run in favours a TTer, Cancellara seems the obvious choice, but it also seems quite open on the other hand since plenty of others showing form. Gilbert might surprise. |

I think Cancellara will find a way to outfox them. _________________ END THE MADNESS

Its the race of the year and I can't wait TBH. Last years edition was as good a bike race as I can remember in recent years and would be in my top half dozen bike races ever. A dark horse could well win and keep up the recent monument trend but it should really be all about Spartacus v Boonen. Lets get ready to rumble! _________________ “All this panache business – they can kiss my arse, these people. Who’s got panache? These people that go on stupid pointless attacks? Nice thread!
The Mighty Fabian versus the Mighty Quickstep collective.
Maybe they will fixate and allow a resurgent Devolder to take his third win.
Not sure about this new course malarkey.
I like the Oude and that, but we do see a lot of it during Spring.
Just a sad note about UK Eurosport's coverage.
Further schedule changes see another chunk of coverage cut.
11-45 to 12-30 now. Returning at after 2-15pm.(BST)
This is due to another car race being added.
I'll be Raiing from 11-20am
Nice little aperitif here, today:

The Giro of Limberg. Live at the start and from 3pmCET for 2 and a half hours.
More hills than the Amstel, apparently. |

I wonder if the toughness of the course means tactics are maybe less important and it's going to come down to who's got the legs.

For me, a negative from last year was that there was a bit too much "anti racing" and had Quick Step taken a bit more of a positive approach I think they may have won it with Chavanel. Nuyens as a winner felt a bit of an anti climax too, but I'm not suggesting he didn't deserve it.
Boonen's sounding confident.

I'm told the weather system around the Azores that's been bringing us all this good weather has destabilised and we're in for a week of changeable weather. Might liven things up |

| An overnight SMS from people that are there says there was strong headwind on the final run in yesterday and could be a factor. |

Cancellara doing the usual go round a bend too fast, fall off on a bend, check the brakes etc a bit earlier than usual. _________________ My blog on "minority" Olympic sports |

Boonen responded to question about winning with head or legs by saying it's a tougher finish and impossible to say. Said it's not important to be favourite, it's important to win |
