My Browsing has revealed to me that I must avoid these USA sites and cyclingnews also as they only go back a short time in their so called archives.

This is my main point, but thanks I now feel more informed.
You have just confimed that they had the tools before the 7 year itch but not the knowlege.

I was using restricted computor programes within the company that employed me back in the seventies.
I am so glad we never had mobile (cell) phones in those days as the boss's secretary would have been giving us his latest comments all day long. (it was much better to get them in the Pub later)

While on the subject of goo gooland and the web geeks.
My country has suffered by so much misrepresenting by Hollywood and now the geeks have lost our countries.

Hotels, flights, ferries and whatever the Web will say what Country do you live in and the only choice is to scroll through the list and sometimes find GB but nearly always it's the UK.
I found on another forum that a guy was complaining he could not find his country of Malta and I replied he cannot find ENGLAND, WALES or SCOTLAND as we have been wiped off the face of the earth by the GEEKS.
UK is not a COUNTRY.

EDIT 29th April 2010
Three & half months without comment.
Why, well the UK is the Queens Realm of 4 countries and run on her behalf by her government who have been selected for her by the voting public. (any queeries with this, then check out Oliver Cromwell and the last Revolution here)
(yes I know the Royalists won in the long term and still screw the arse off us peasants)

So to those Dumb Geeks who run the web, can we please have our Countries back.

smashing read bg!! mille grazie for the link.

I thought this was particularly relevant reading in there:

One of the most beautiful episodes of this era happened during the Giro of 1955. This would have been your third Giro win when you were 35 years old. You wore Pink from the second stage through the ninth stage, then it was worn by Raphael Geminiani and then Gaston Nencini. During the penultimate stage (Trento-San Pellegrino), with Nencini in pink, you and Coppi went for an incredible breakaway of 170 km! This was one of those exploits that make history.

Nencini got a flat on a descent and you and Coppi attacked. It was like a 2-man time trial.
Coppi won that stage and you took the Pink. Is it true that the Italian radios interrupted their programs to report this break?

ahhhhh yes, the sweet smell of not playing fairly....!!!!

I think this one is missing

http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/start.asp

What's CQ?

CQ is short for Cycling Quotient. The CQ-ranking is a world ranking of professional road cyclists, based on their performances during the last 12 months. It can be seen as the non-official successor of the UCI-ranking which disappeared when the ProTour was introduced in 2005.

I picked up nos. 1 and 2 of this hardback set L'equipe have just issued but missed out on No. 3 in Liege.  They are a lovely set to have and if I can get the rest I might might be able to shift a few comics from the shelves to make room for all 36.  The beauty of having only minimal French means you can translate them yourself and not have to endure L'equipe's (yellow) jaundiced take on Le Tour.

I ordered all of them, by filling in a postcard.  Haven't got  number two yet.  Looks excellent.  A lot easier to handle than the huge, heavy three volume set they sold a few years back.

Some may have missed this for stats/palmares.  Quite good and allows head-to-head comparisons
