Prudhomme coming straight through Northen France as quick as is possible and I hope tomorrow we see at least another stage up North.

OK, so on the way through he gives us 13.2 Km's of Pave in 7 sections. That will do nicely. thumright

Edit, A further thought here about Wiggins and his ability to ride the pave has lead me to wonder about the extra mountains for him.
A return to ride the Colombiere but to then continue over the jolly old Madeleine. A favorite of mine from long ago. (saddlebags)

Be Lucky

I'm not sure how moch is 'flat' and how much is downhill? From memory there is a long long down hill - but I've never ridden all the way to Pau.

Much though I am a fan of MTFs, it hasn't escaped me that the stage that did the damage this year was a tough climbing stage without a MTF.

There are two different ways they could go, aren't there?  I've travelled alongside the river (in a car), and it seemed to be pan flat for miles.  That's the direct route which I assume they'll be taking - will have to look at the map.

Maffy's cardiograph certainly makes it look a more interesting prospect.
Will borrow that, if I may.
Certainly better than last year.
Hope the pave ain't wet and we end up with a lucky lotto.....given one guy has always had all the luck.

it's interesting that the two rest days don't include transfers which is good for the riders

it looks overall a good route on paper. let's hope it's a good route on tarmac Very Happy

Yes, I was very happy when I saw this:

Team Time Trial: 0 km

More I look at it the more I like it, that stage into Mende could be a blinder, was last time.

More GC contender time won or lost there, (10s of seconds) than over the 4 big cols to Pau.
Of that, I'm sure.

I liked Contador's comments, saying about whatever team he has next year will be riding for him and he won't have to ask permission to attack.

I guess he didn't really enjoy having a whole year of Bruyneels tactics.

I'm not sure why Sastre isn't beaming with joy:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/s...-tour-is-spectacular-for-climbers

I still think Contador will be unbeatable, especially in this version, but Andy will have his best opportunity in '10.  Heck, it's likely to be Contador, Schleck, Schleck on the podium.  The old man will have a tough time.  You heard it here first.  Smile

Maybe some free food and wine would have helped sway his opinion to do the most suitable TDF route for a climber/crappy TT'er that there's been for quite some time.  As it is right now, he says he's undecided about what races he wants to do next year.

Pre Tour, I know, but the 2010 Dauphine is going where the Tour itself should.

I love this route, only one long TT, no Team TT, cobbles and plenty of mountains.
Contador Vs. Schleck again and it will be closer with only one TT for Schleck to worry about. My dark horse would be Gesink
