TdF wasnt quite as exciting as it was hyped up because the best rider was on the best team and they controlled the race, something we havent missed in the last few years. Next year it should AC vs Suxobank vs Team America. I hope Roid and Basso are back to liven it up, couldnt care less about Chicken and Vino. Hard to say whether Wiggins will go better, this may have been his peak, unless he gets access to better medication.
I was really anticipating tdf 2005 so curious to see the battle royale of Ullrich, Basso, and Vino. But then a month (or was it a week?) before the start all three disappear and we were left to watch the 2nd tier.
With that in mind I won't pay too much attention until I'm forced to make my Fearless Predictions in my quest for Smaurader Cup.
Just received an email questionnaire about the TdF.
Turns out it was Carrefour asking about sponsors and their visibilty.
No section for criticism constructive or otherwise.
I wanted to comment on parcours etc.
Said I'm sympathetic to Carrefour because they are investing
and TdF needs sponsors but looking at the list they have plenty.
Not a lot to do with cycling, just commercial interests and visibility.
Another 5 minutes of my life wasted on this circus.
Carrefour took over Champion so pretty much got landed with TdF sponsorship rather than injecting new money - they've taken over most of the Champions but the few that remain still have the checkout girls in KoM t-shirts, bless.
TdF 2010 will start in Rotterdam? Definitely up north and visit the Normandy landing beaches, maybe include a northern Classics type stage and have some real fireworks in the Pyrenees - apparently. _________________ I'm just looking for one divine hammer

September 15 update: Paddy Sweeney of Velo Peloton Vacances cyclisme has sent some new 2010 Tour de France route rumours: "Stage finish on Col d’Aubisque on 21st July after crossing Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet and Soulor. Tour crossed same mountains on 21st July 1910. The week will look something like this."

18 July: Carcassonne - Plateau de Beille
19 July: Foix- Bagnéres de Luchon - Super Bagnéres
20 July: Rest day
21 July: Bagnéres de Luchon - Col de Aubisque
22 July: Pau - La Pierre St Martin

Other details about next year's Tour route begin to emerge
The 2010 Tour de France will feature two ascents of the Col du Tourmalet to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the climb's inclusion in the race, according to Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen. Other possible route details have started to trickle out, too.
The Belgian newspaper reported that Tour de France organisers will incorporate the Tourmalet first on stage 15 from Bagnères-de-Luchon to Pau, retracing the 1947 Tour. The climb will appear a second time in the race as a summit finish.
Since 1947, the hors categorie Col du Tourmalet has featured in the race's profile on 47 occasions, with Liquigas' Franco Pellizotti the most recent recipient, this year, of a special prize awarded for the first rider to summit on each occasion.
Other newspapers in the southwest of France, such as the Sud Ouest have had details about the end of the French Grand Tour. After visiting the Pyrénées, the Tour will arrive in Bordeaux on July 23.
This will be followed on July 24 by an individual time trial from Bordeaux to Pauillac. The course is said to be about 60 km, and will pass through the local vineyards, similar to the St. Emilion stage in 1996. It will be an undulating, but not terribly difficult course, and features a scenic route, passing such sites as the Château Margaux.
The race will end on July 25, from an as-yet unknown start town to the traditional finish on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
The 2010 Tour de France will begin in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on July 3. Race organiser, Amaury Sports Organisation (ASO), will announce full details of the route at the race's official presentation on Wednesday, October 14 in Paris.
