Seen these odds on the web this morning for the Wales v SA

SA 4/1 v Wales 10/1 ....... That has to be worth a bet on Wales!!

I asume that is the odds to win the World Cup ?
(or there is a minimum winning margin if it is just a single game)

I reckon they are enhanced odds.  Most bookies do special offers with enhanced odds based on opening a new account, daily specials etc.  The 'proper' prices are nearer 3/10 SA and 3/1 Wales - still decent odds against a side that has already lost to Japan Wink

If you can get the 10/1 take it!

I'm not certain what they are, just saw the odds.

I know nothing about betting, the annual Stanley Cup bet is actually put on by my son, never been in a betting shop in my life however I do know that 10/1 would be stunning odds to get on a game that could be very very even

The World Cup odds seem to be about 33-34 to 1 for Wales Argentina and  France.  Scotland 150 and the rest vary a bit.  New Zealand to win according to everyone.

Mind you, I suppose nearly anyone could figure that out by now.

Up to Scotland now to prove that Rugby isn't a game of two halves - the Southern half and the Northern half... Wink

Take this so far.... who'd have thought we'd get a lead on the Aussies!!

Still gutted for Scotland.
Scotland v Argentina semi would have been awesome and kept a lot of neutrals interested.
So now we're all supporting Argentina, right ?

The only angle that hasn't been explored is why did Welsh pick up the (likely) knock-on ?
Yes, I know it's all in the heat of the moment, but they act on lots of other fastidious rules in a split second. Avoiding knock-ons seems to be one area that players don't consider.

Presumably if Welsh hadn't picked it up then there would have been no infringement (well, not a penalty at any rate).
Quote:

As sad as the news of Lomu's untimely death was, I did enjoy seeing again the archive footage that was on the various news channels that day. The Mrs hadn't come across him before, and was amazed at him sprinting full on and just putting out a hand to swat away the would be tacklers. This plaque from his school's annual Athletic Championships says it all

His memorial service was today.

Thanks Bio,
I found it very emotional seeing those Guardian photos and remembering him on the field of play.
RIP Jonah.

Rarely have I heard such ungracious comments by a winning coach in any sport as from Jones after the Italy game.  My irony meter broke when he used Trevor Chappell and the underarm incident against NZ as an example to illustrate what Italy did.

It may not have been in the spirit of the game but I reckon Italy only kept doing it because England kept not understanding how to deal with it.  If his team and coaching staff had been a bit smarter and worked it out earlier, then Jones might not have had to come across so bitter and ungracious.  Although being an Aussie, it is probably his default setting...     Very Happy

I only noticed this because I'd inadvertently clicked the option to be sent an email when someone replies to this topic. Whilst I wouldn't disagree much with what you're saying, it does seem quite sad somehow that the first comment here relating to Jones' long unbeaten streak including winning the Grand Slam last year and turning the Aussies over 3-0 in Oz last summer is one to complain that he's being ungracious!

If Scotland and/or Ireland turn England over in the next two matches I'm sure things won't be so quiet...

But it wasn't a comment about a long unbroken run - just a comment about a coach being a knob.

As for expecting the Welsh, Scottish, honorary French or Irish posters to post about the run, when the English posters can't be bothered . . . Wink

Exactly. The thread had died. Why revive it just to slag off jones?

Some things are too important to be left unsaid Smile

As for thinking that I inadvertently underlined the veracity of your post - think again. You moaned that no poster was praising England's achievements and I pointed out you had the floor . . . it would take a Trumpian leap of logic to think I was agreeing with you Smile

Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

Have to say I chortled merrily when I listened to Judas Jones whinging (as my south African colleague refers to him). I thought it was a brilliant tactic Conor O'Shea came up with and what should be challenged more is the fact that the England team were so half witted they didn't realise what was going or have the ability to think how to counteract it until nearly the end of the first half. As a totally unbiased Scot (aye right) I thought it was great!

Sadly though for an unbiased Scot, the England team are becoming difficult to beat, you have to be impressed by the style of rugby they are playing to get the results too which for me is always the important bit. With prayers and a bit of luck that run will come to a crashing end this weekend  Laughing

Seeing as the cycling season had properly started last weekend and our little forum was open for business again, I was only expanding on what was the major sports talking point (in the English media anyway) of the weekend.

Yes, England are once again the dominant power of Northern Hemisphere rugby, which makes Jones's acerbic comments sound all the more ridiculously churlish.  I doubt SR would feel the same way if Jones was taking the same stance as an Aussie coach of an Aussie team denigrating little Italy...

The topic is till headline back page news in the Guardian and Telegraph, so it must be worth discussing in some places.
