i think $99.98 million of that goes to his creditors

the eagles just lack composure. that Defensive lineman knew there was never going to be a snap but he jumps offside giving the first down and game to Buffalo

the stupid penalties when they were 1st and goal were also another issue.
when it then goes to 2nd & goal from the 27, due to stupid penalties.

thos stupid mistakes cost them.

the other problem is that "why the **** didn't they sign defensive players who can tackle. it's all well and good signing players who have a reputation for big plays, but if they're aren't defensive tacklers, you are ******"

49ers 5-1 kept the Detroit offense quiet and got a hard comeback win. Going into bye now have a shot at 10 wins. Lions coach Schwartz tried to cause a melee after Harbaugh patted him on the back. Espn has suddenly discovered the 49ers are legit. Eagles finally got a win though they needed 4 ints from gross Rex to do it.

Colts now 0-6 doing a convincing appearance of not tanking, even put up 10 4th qtr points, now have separation in the Suck for Luck stakes. Rams keeping pace with them at 0-5.

Week 9 coming up and the Sunday night game of the Ravens @ the Steelers.
The return game to week 1 where Baltimore whooped it up on the Steelers 7 to 35 for the Ravens.

The USA daylight saving time will change @ 6th November (the first Sunday in November) and so the match on channel 4 will start at 1:20 am Monday morning. (8:20pm Eastern)

Worth staying up for, this revenge match but just in case my recorder is already set.

Its too bad that they were able to get another Super Bowl title after Jones basically kicked Jimmy Johnson out. Only solidified his resolve that he was doing things the 'right' way.

Jones is the new Al Davis.

The pictures of him on Sunday night in that private box. Great.
Wouldn't want to be on that plane back to Fort Worth.

Very nice.  Laughing
I'm glad that Lance didn't enjoy it also. Rolling Eyes

And to think that the Forty Niners had a very good win on that same field a few weeks ago.   Wink

Week 9 - Green Bay at San Diego.

Rogers throw to Nelson just before half time.
He catches the ball and the review shows he had control before the ball touches the ground as he rolls over and into the end zone.
Touchdown given.

Hang on, Question.
Is that a touchdown if his backside (with the ball) and his elbow are on the ground at the 2 yard line before he rolls into the endzone. ????

Surely the next play should have been 1st and Goal at the 2 yard line.

OK the defender went over the top of him without contact.

I don't understand it, so can someone explain it to me, please.

In the NFL, you are only down if you go out of bounds or you're tackled by an opponent. If you fall on your own, as long as you don't get touched by an opponent, you're considered in play still.

This also explains why you see opponents just touch an opposing that has fallen. That's all that is needed to declare the player down.

In US college football, if you fall, whether pushed by an opponent or on your own, you are considered downed.

Thanks berck.

I thought I had seen things before. (probably a college game then)
Where a knee went down at the one and the touchdown not given even without being touched.
My mistake.

Yeh I recall a NFL player going down in midfield and play stopped even without a whistle.
The downed player got up and trotted into the endzone while the defence were making their way to line up for the next play.

Thanks again.

49ers are now 9-1 and could go 14-2. They finished 3-1 v the NFC East. Tebow is completing just 44.8 percent of his passes but has gone 4-1.

In the Suck for Luck stakes, the Colts are out in the lead at a perfect 0-10 Very Happy Curtis Painter is carving himself a place in history. Even Miami have given up and tried to win a few games.

I cannot claim any ownership but the Niners have been my favourite team since 1983, the year it all started on TV over here.
Up to that time the only references about american football had been, someone had won the "Rosebowl".
Then in 83 a half hour programe with highlights of a game from the previous week and lots of attempts to educate the UK. (came in handy with the cycling season)
Mainly Redskins, Miami, Dallas were shown that year as they won more games it seems. (ie Superbowl 17, Dolphins v Redskins)  (can't stand any of them since but I made a visit last year to all three)
They didn't talk much about the Niners and I couldn't decide which team.
An ambition I had had, was to visit San Francisco so I picked the Niners and then what followed was Joe Magic but no Threepeat.
I've been to San Francisco 4 times now and 3 times to Candlestick. (2 to the Raiders & 1 to Cal)
oh, 3 times to your Stanford Cardinals and I hope they put Notre Dame away like the Trojans did.

Interesting Thanksgiving for you with Niners @ Ravens and brotherly love.

Be Lucky

Well the Niners have extended their season for two weeks so far.

I think it would be hard to watch Denver games if your a fan because they all seem to come down to the last few minutes but they are a real novelty for neutral fans. Having 2 possible runners or a pass on every play, noone can predict whats going to happen.

the eagles season is now as good as over Sad
conceding 21 points off turnovers is not good enough.

I was watching that. Thats how to lose a winnable game. They were one of the favorites to win the SB before the season but I cant see a team with Vick ever winning anything and a couple of injuries have affected them. Their defense really sucks too.

i didn't see the game  but from the other games, the three big problems on the defense are

1: can't tackle
2: trying to go for the big plays rather than straight forward ones
3: hard counts on third and fourth downs

they were the biggest spenders in the off season so they really should have at the very least made the playoffs.

after the win 2 weeks ago against the Giants, i thought that was the turning point. the winning touchdown was a 9 minute drive, 18 plays, 6/6 on 3rd down conversions and ending with a touchdown. I saw that as a turning point but alas, no it wasn't.

The Eagles are an unhappy camp. Desean doing a great Owens diva impersonation. Vick is not the type who is going to return and unite the whole team. Looks like they have talent for big plays but are not doing the fundamentals.

Thats what the 49ers have used to transform the team. They started doing some of the basics better and suddenly they are so much harder to beat. They are almost impossible to run against, cut down on stupid penalties, instead of going for big passing plays they have focused on short passes to move the ball and eat up the clock, and they are spreading the ball around which a lot of the top teams are doing.
