Well, it looks like Brett Favre will be suiting up in Purple come September for the team I've suffered with for nearly 40 years.

As much as I respected and feared Favre over the years, I dont think anybody will respect or fear him this upcoming season.

Another case of a dollar short, a day late I'm afraid.

Not much interest here at the moment and I must be honest that last week I wasn't tuned in either, but the wife brought my attention to the Sunday Night NFL game.
A few weeks ago I did a provisional look for my USA trip this year but never got round to arranging anything.

So smarauder's Vikings have made a good start with 2 wins and Bret Farve must be playing within his new capablities as he has only thrown 265 yds the third lowest but the Highest 77% of completions in the League of what he has thrown. He also has the 2nd best Quarterback Rating in the League.

The results for week 2 seem to be very odd with last years "Form" turned upside down, I think.

Well the media are creaming themselves over the Colts as per usual given their complete hard on over Jethro.

The Vikes have done what they have failed to do in the past and that is win games that they should win. The Rams game is an example of the sort of game they would have blown in the past.

Favre is doing a Kerry Collins - not fucking things up. The passing game is going to open things up for Peterson later on, the likes of Rice, Harvin and Berrian have got to be getting more confidence now that they don't have the waste of space known as Tavaris Jackson 'throwing' the ball.

They are still hampered by Childress' shitty play calling but hey ho. The Lions are still shit, the Pack can't pass protect and Cutler is a nut-job.

The Broncos seem to be proving everyone wrong which is cool - again taking advantage of a weak division. No one wants to be going to Denver in January.

First coach to be canned? Who do we think? I'll go for Jauron of the Bills.

Too bad about the Bills.  Looks like LA, er, I mean TO, won't get to go out a champ.

I thought the Bronco's did well against New England and I know they won the coin toss.
They at least went down and kicked the winning goal.

I don't think the other teams want to play up there at any time because they run out of puff.
They told me that they don't get that much snow and when they do it clears pretty quick, as the Rockies and the snow start down (sorry up) the road just after the "Coors" Brewery.

Maybe Fisher although can't blame him totally. Collins is all to hell and the Titan's secondary look like a bunch of drunk girl scouts. The running game is the only thing that is reasonably ok.
Playing the Patriots Sunday... so 0-6 by Sunday night. Of course I am going with the "blind hog" theory in hope he will find that acorn.

Toss-up between Jauron - who has had many chances and keeps producing mediocre squads but gets rewarded with a lucrative contract by the owners- and Zorn who plays for an owner with no patience or long term plan.

Fisher has a long track record of success so I believe he is safe. The titans problems are primarily on defense, so they end up having to try and win games with collins. He's not that type of player who can single handedly win a match.

Saints ripping the top rated defense in the league a new one.  Brees passing, or maybe it's the Giants defense, is unbelievable.  250 yards first half. Shocked

Week 6......6 wins for the Vikings

It looks like Baltimore missed a 43 yard Field Goal in the final seconds to lose 31-33.

Nothing better than seeing Cleatus getting his arse kicked. Not that this will interupt the media's Manning Mancrush. 'Oh Peyton let me get on my knees and suck you off for 1500 words'. This makes the coverage of Armstrong on CN seem fair and balanced.

Zorn seeming to want to be sacked.

The media is sure to fawn over the vikings, and especially for Brett Favre and the 6-0 start. Nevermind that Favre has collapsed in the latter half of every season for the past 5 years or so.

Cleveland continues on its way to 1-15.

KC actually wins a game, finally and puts Zorn of washington in further likelihood of being sacked.

Childress hasn't become a decent coach since they signed Favre. Favre is basically papering over the cracks of a shitty coach and a brittle D.

At some point or other Favre's ego will cause the team to blow up.

Vikings fans remember Darrin Nelson and 1999 too well to ever get confident about the team. I am sure Childress will find a way to fuck it up.

Unfortunately, I tend to use Yahoo and SI for my US sports news and they have probably have the worst writers out there. Still if prizes were given for arse-kissing then they'd leave Harmon trailing in their wake.

Watching Tennessee and New England right now.  Pitiful 0-45 showing and it's just the end of the first half. PrettyBoyBrady has thrown for 5 touchdowns in the first half.  Wishing and hoping that CBS will shift coverage to a closer game.....

I am eagerly anticipating a Chargers win over the Broncos on Monday night.  Hehe santa That would be like Christmas in October for me!

Oh it will explode, there's no doubt of this. It is only a matter of when.

Favre's late season collapses are now de facto by any measure. The team has basically no future at the quarterback position beyond their 40 year old arm for hire.

I contend that Minnesota's season will end in similar fashion to that of Green Bay when Favre was last playing for them.

The catch about Favre though, is that while his antics have left his reputation mostly (not totally) unscathed with the media - plenty of punters detest him as a prima donna - especially in NFL cities. I sense that the cycling fanbase in America is more fawning towards Pharmstrong than the NFL fanbase is towards Favre.

As a Vikings fan I am troubled. I hate Childress for being a shit coach, over conservative and having the man-management skills of a stoat. I hate Favre for being a whiney-me first bitch and all those years of the media sucking him off. But this is the best Vikings team I've seen since maybe 87... we might win led by guys I wouldn't shit on from a great height. I hate to say it but we are 6-0 and not 3-3 because of Favre.

So as a Vikes fan I always wait for the penny to drop.

The Pats game - that is like a scene from 'Oz'...
