This place is a bit dank.  Can someone hang a fern in here?
What kind?  I suggest a Boston for hanging.

I'm new here too.  Seems like there's a lot of bickering...

Just make sure you keep your room tidy and wash up after yourself. The wine in the fridge is Huw's and the olives belong to Kathy - I wouldn't go in the chiller compartment if I were you. Smoking is in the designated area on the veranda under the Let Levi Cry poster. The boonen is under the stairs for dry spills and for wet spills, the schlek is in the pantry.

Please enjoy your stay.

Just a chance to make a Boston Fern joke, my friend... Wink

S'all good - I've been in wind-up mode for about a month now, I think the constant rain here's driving me a bit mad.

I don't even know how it got started...something came up just by the by about ferns...and then when an argument got going, sometimes someone would just throw that fern pic in there to lighten it up...The Fern of Peace...

An entire thread once existed involving ferns...it has a life of its own.

So...it just makes us feel at home...and anytime we can throw it into a conversation we do.  It's goofy.

No worries...since I'm new I'll just tell you that I take very little seriously...on the internet, that is.  This is my preferred slacker entertainment.  Very Happy

And constant rain would drive me mad, to the point of screaming "fuckweasel" in a crowded thread, or "bunch of pillocks!!" or something...LOL.  I don't know what that means, but I bet it's pretty damn silly.  So look out.   I just might say it sometime...  Twisted Evil

(I am seriously digging this emoticon!!)

Just be warned...some people take plants, especially ferns, quite seriously...

It started one day on CF when a poster there, Thunder, was complaining about a thread he posted being hijacked off topic.  He threw out an in jest threat, and I threatened him, in jest "I'll come over there and hang a fucking fern in the thread if you aren't careful."  Then I went and found a hanging fern and hung it in his thread.  Then it developed a life of its own.

A couple of weeks later, Jeff Vader posted on slowtwitch that he was thinking about putting some ferns in his work-out space.  That thread developed into something beyond explanation.  There were some posts regarding secret NSA emails, and a gay nazi.  It was the wild west for a couple of days.

Fear the fern!

yes...people should understand that ferns are not something to fool around with...you have to know what you're doing.  And even then...no one knows for sure what will happen...

I'm still peeved that Chewy keeps hanging a bloody silk fern.  Another struggling nursery fern dies as a result...

Now I understand ferns.  I don't read the whole FID.  Usually I just skim the last page or two.  I missed out on what was up with the ferns.    Embarassed

But now you need to go study them in depth to get a full appreciation of the hardships faced by the average fern not only in today's globally warming climate... but also by the unempathetic artificial fern-buying public.  And learn about the cruel fern puppy mills that have sprung up like a cancer across the US especially.  It's sad.

I hope you're not still thinking about "doing something about it."
