The consensus is that the officials site have that wrong.
Local knowledge suggests it's longer than the final km and not like Valdepenas de Jaen at all:

Pave at just over 2kms out and a final km in the 11-13% range.
Possible not going right to the top of that profile.
Major peloton carnage probable.

MJM's link to thise profiles are broken, for me at least so:

Guiness

Thanks Huw.

The hero of the start line was Tyler Farrar. After yesterday’s crash, he intended to keep racing but as he felt bad again two hours before the start today, he was sent back to hospital and everyone thought he was pulling out of the Vuelta. But ten minutes prior to the start, he showed up on the start line, asked for a bike and a helmet and hit the road again!  He was only able to go 35km, though.

hero my ass..
Bartali

Game on ... looking forward to this.

jeez this is narrow.....

They ain't waiting for the final climb.
Attacks going off all over the place.
Poels off up the road, trying to go one better.

Kurtains going to bring this back as well.

Fooking Hell that's STEEP!!

Wiggo at 23 sec.....that was a shoe in for Purito
HuwB

Dull finish that!
Wiggins loses 23, Nibali went for about 32 seconds, too.
Pretty big loses off a 2 km wall.

The return of Igor Anton?
Boogerd_Fan

was Anton ever out of it?? Razz

Nibs perhaps feeling yesterday's crash? Altho thats no excuse with the rest of the guys who went down Mollema, Purito & Scarponi all in the top 3.

OK a shoe in for Rodriguez, but it is setting up beautifully for the TT (with the gaps at the moment) as well as the real mountains still to come.

Still think Fuglsang is just faking it right now... he'll be up there after the TT, but i have never seen him do a really top quality MTF in high mountains.

The GC is starting have that wtf? look about it.
A few anonymous and so far season's flop loitering around the top 20.
Double wtf? for the current Shack number 1.

It was completely predictable that Zubeldia would end up their top GC guy.
