Vuelta stage 6- Xátiva-Xátiva, 176.8km 4th Sept

Xátiva - interesting place with a large castle on a hill which was fought over by the Moors and Christians for centuries.  It features briefly in my first book.  I should think it's pretty flat wherever they're finishing in the town.  Pity they're not going up the hill to the castle - that's quite steep and very twisty.
Bartali

What book Kathy?  You a writer?
kathy

Yes, nearly finished my second novel.  Not published yet - still negotiating Very Happy

Aargh! Maffy, your thread has diappeared -was hoping you might have a better profile Wink

Do tell us more

A cycling book per chance? A british mystery?  Very Happy  Question
Slapshot 3

Chick Lit - be all romancy Mills and Boon stuf...Wink
kathy

Enchantress, I do mention cycling, but more so in the second book - got a nice lycra scene in that one Wink

Slapshot,  probably would be described as chick-lit, there is romantic interest, but adventure as well.  I tried to read a Mills & Boon once, but gaveup after a couple of chapters. I have a friend who devours them though, even though she says they're all the same Confused

First book is set in Spain, and the second one in France, near the Canal du Midi.  I've had an agent pfaffing around with the first one for about a year, in the meantime, I've rewritten half of it, with help and advice from a friend in the same boat.  (I'm helping him with his book, as well).

I would love to write a cycling book though.  Freya North got to ride in a team car at the Tour and interview David Millar when she wrote 'Cat', which is definitely chick-lit, but the setting is the Tour de France.

Is this how you get all that time to follow cycling coverage then? 'Writing a novel' Smile

Hope the negotiations go well.

Isn't it pretty random to have a GT stage this long that starts and finishes in the same time?
Ralphnorman

Kirchen has abandoned, he didn't sign on this morning.
HuwB

Beat me to it, Ralph. The first of many high profile riders to scarper. With the second rest day after stage 11, there will be a mass exodus.
For the second day in succession Jose Antonio Lopez Gil (Andalucia Cajasur) and Matheus Pronk (Vacansoleil) are in an early breakaway. They are joined by Bingen Fernandez (Cofidis) and Aitor Perez (Contentpolis) and have opened up a four minute lead.
kathy

Lovely countryside - I know it well!
HuwB

Another gentle stroll in the Spanish sun....
kathy

Huw, it is VERY hot today - the afternoon breeze hasn't arrived - I know, I was out in it until about half an hour ago.

But next week, in the second driest region of Spain, I expect we will have torrential rain, as seems to happen every time I go and watch a bike race around here Evil or Very Mad
HuwB

Nah.....No rain forcast until the turd week and then, only locally.....

This stage is going on a bit.......
Enchantress

Yeah, about 20 minutes over I think.
Enchantress

WOuld be nice to see an attacking group have a chance to win.

Never mind, they're done
Beasley

Moncoutie giving it a go, but it looks set for a bunch finish.
Enchantress

Bozic...

Farrar's best form is well behind him.
kathy

Nolte has stopped the KOD sequence at last! Laughing
Enchantress

Yes he did, and a savvy pick at that.
Beasley

Bozic wins, Farrar second, Bennati third. Boonen fifth, I think.

Andre Greipel keeps gold for another day.
HuwB

The "stick a pin in the sprinters" lottery continues.
Cadel Evans beats Greipel in the sprint and Bozic
final takes the stage.
All over the place finish.
Who would have thunk it?

Perhaps, but one of those sprinters seems to have a pin stuck in the same spot....

Farrar & 2nd place Smile
Nolte
