This is not the route of L-B-L where they climb St Nicolas from the Football Ground (Standard Liege).
Today's route comes into Liege Center along the River and then up past the the Palais des Princess Eveques (the current site of L-B-L presentations).
This is the Main Bus Terminal and the race will start climbing as they go underground on the "BUS ONLY" road and climb with the bus routes past the Campanile Hotel and through St Nicolas Place.
Across the St Nicolas area and downhill to the river at Jemeppe then left along the river and past the Football Ground and back to the circuit start.
The Spanish are Catholics, So why do they Finish the Vuelta Stage at the Naked man wrestling a Bull in the "Nude" with both the testicles prominent.
I make the point because in the late 1800's when the Female sculpturer unveiled the Statue, the Catholics were in revolt about it. (and I believe they still are)
The local students have fun with it every year. ????

I don't think anyone's told most of the Spanish recently
The percentage church attendance is one of the lowest in Europe.

Huw, I mailed ES about 30 minutes ago about Becky's achievments - no mention yet!

kathy I thought as I wrote Catholics in Spain that you would correct me, and
as you are on speaking terms with Harman.
He mentioned a broken "Steerer" the other day.
I'm sure he means "Forks" or the "Headset" and I didn't see the incident.
Do you all understand his word "Steerer" and I'm out of touch or is it again his lack of cycling knowledge. ?????

Think he means the bit of the forks that go through the head tube ... if that makes sense.

I'm watching, but on delayed HD coverage, so I'm back at km 85....
I was worried that people would be chatting and giving things away.
I was obviously wrong!
Amazed at Harmon's surprise at some of today's signing announcements, as they have been on here for a week....

Uggh, Sanchez getting the treatment....
"no plan B, unlike Cadel Evans"
As if Cuddles was going to do anything in the vuelta but collect another maillot merde...

I asked the other day but no-one replied; why is Evans called Cuddles?

Mosquera not looking good crossing the line
|

For the second day running, ES commentators haven't a clue what happened at the end. There was quite clearly an indication of 2.8km just before the crash. I feel sorry for Mosquera - he's had such an unlucky season. A domestic accident before the Giro, and now this!

More KOD news:-
Word has it that it was rising Danish star and my young rider pick, Jakob Fuglsang who plowed into the back of that semi-tractor-trailer on the side of the road ... seems like he's still in the race. He wins the Toughman award of the day.
Amazing, it wasn't Frank "Tarmac" Schleck.
At least I haven't picked Mossie for anything....
No news on Shy Sky? Maybe Simon Gerrans is a one man team....
( I still haven't seen the last 45kms, btw! )

Vino went down pretty bad too. We know what happens, next!

Edit:
seen it now.....
NOT Vino but.............HORNER AGAIN, (looks definitely down and out with CB at least) Mosquera and Kessiakoff seem to have got by far the worst of it.
Most of Saxobank came in together, so it's difficult to tell, but Matti B looked rough...
Riders OK: Sanchez and Basso and thats' about it GC wise, unless you count Kirchen and Cunego.

damn right, i'd get angry too if Sammy Nolte was put at risk

Daniel Martin also crashed
Both Schlecks were 5 minutes back
some time difference
fuglsang, hammond at 1:57
dan martin, perrick fedrigo, joaquim rodriquez, valverde (that's a piti. i'm sorry), gerrans at 2:10
deignan (did he crash?. we need to start teaching kids bikehandling skills here. roche must be lucky he was brought up in france.), the cheat vino, farrar, roman kreuziger, bennati, duque, freire, garate at 3:58
martinez at 4:53
boonen, davis, schlecks, cancellara, o'grady, breschel, mosquera, at 5:03
devolder at 7:44
bozic, ciolek, zandio, marcato at 8minutes plus
i think the fact that fuglsang finished ahead of the main saxo bank riders proves kathy's point from yesterday

All got accredited with the same GC times, though.
Had a look around in various dark places.
Vino: Stitched up!
Jesus Hernandez: Bit of a cut leg.
Jak Fuglsang: Spoke through the leg. Cut to the bone. Otherwise OK.
Tom Danielson: Crashed and bike trashed. OK though...
Noticed Farrar, Millar, Bennati and Kreuziger came in with the Vino group.
No news any any of them....

i was not aware of the same time. i was looking at the results and cyclingnews didn';t do their usual thing of putting riders that crashed at 0:00

Capitalism - the enemy of the afternoon forum poster.
And I'm finding it hard to currently get motivated about a Vuelta that was relocated to a far away land that's short a dimension.
On the plus side I get upgraded Harmonvision for 5 days around the weekend so I might pop back up.

I'm very excited about the Vuelta, but I'm keeping my powder dry until the mountains - then I might have some 'working at home' days!

FRom a Spanish website
Mosquera has severe pains in his hip and ankle - it's the ankle that's worrying him most. The good news is that he can walk with a bit of difficulty. His injuries will be assessed during the rest day.
Two other Xacobeo riders, Veloso and Dominguez also suffered falls during the stage.

Not as far as his injuries are concerned, but he is in the Spanish pre-selection for the World Champs.

Mosquera has a sprained left ankle. The swelling is reduced, but it's still painful to put weight on it. He is going to continue and see how it goes.
