---
...it goes through germany...

That hill looks bigger than today's pimple, but it's not categorised!

bizarrely, i don't think they actually awarded any points for today's pimple. just used it to decide the jersey according to the official ticker. equally oddly, leftpondia's national championships road race seems to be happening right now.

Hello? nobody home again...........
Twiddling along in the late Summer sunshine.
All is right with the World, as the peloton leave Lars and the boys, out to fry.

.....and I am discounting Harmon.
Maybe I should ask him for his congratulations re Becky? The ultimate accolade.
Ever year he pushes Viva La Vuelta....he must be on commission.
Slowed to a crawl with one rabbit. Boy, it's flat....unlike tomorrow.

Henderson - surprise

I knew I should have picked Henderson - saw him winning a sprint in the Vuelta a Murcia.

Farrar's form left at the ENECO.

Huw, he wrote the prologue to Viva la Vuelta. It is an excellent book!

Farrar is a tired boy.
See what happens to the Columbia lead out train when the Cavs away.

It wasn't so much of a leadout train I think, as it seemed like a train of assorted riders jockeying for the last km.
THey all had turns up front - garmin, columbia, quickstep, etc.

Yes, I think many of us made the mistake of thinking he was hiting top form at ENECO,
when it was the last rays of his summer.
3GTs is expecting a lot.

Well, he was on about possibly one of the Schleck going for the Worlds and the other for the Vuelta. I just told him what I'd read, that Andy was using the Vuelta as training for the Worlds, and that Saxo had said they were going to ride for Fuglsang as team leader in the Vuelta, to give him some experience.

i think that's reasonable. he was climbing very well in the dauphine and catalonia. and i think riis might be looking at having him ride for himself like andy schleck got the opportunity in the giro in 2007

Kathy's reading has obviously been the same as mine. More often than not, we may be further from the "celebrities of the road", but closer to the information that surrounds them.
I thought it was common knowledge, that Saxo were supporting Fuglsang for the GC, while Andy S is using the race for world's prep and may not finish.
However, I think the lure of the rainbow jersey, for genuine 3 week riders, is a huge gamble and mostly a waste of time, given the now traditional course design for these championships.

Agreed. Sacrifising a GT podium for a shot at the worlds seems crazy to me.

Particularly if you have a shit finishing sprint which limits your options as to how you ever can win the Worlds anyway.
