Missed 2 days - looking forward to tomorrow!

They'll test Gesink's knee, that's for sure. There's often a 24-36 hour lag with such injuries; adrenaline may have covered the threshold deficit today, but it'll will be tough going tomorrow.
Basso's got to throw down the gauntlet, hasn't he? Even if it's just to secure a podium.

Definitely, those types of injuries can get much more uncomfortable once, as Beasley said, the adrenaline and active state wears off.
About Basso - I'm afraid, barring something unforeseen, that a podium is likely going to escape him. I'd bet Valverde, Sanchez, and Evans will all put time into him in the TT. Now if Gesink is not up for it, then Basso might pip Evans for the final podium depending on the TT as Cuddles is 20 seconds adrift of the Italian.
I'd bet on a podium of Valverde-Sanchez-Cuddles

I get the same feeling. I also had the feeling,
watching some of yesterday's stage, is that the deal has been done,
with Caisse and EE.
I hope I'm wrong and it's a do or die day.

Samu to launch one off the top of Navacerrada. It's the only podium option he has let's be honest, and like you guys I think Basso has shot his bolt as well unless they can "do" cuddles on the way up.

I think you underestimate Basso's ITT. If it's dry, I think he'll beat all the big guns except maybe Evans ... but he won't lose much to Evans.
Stage one showed that he was back in good form on the ITT bike. The longer ITT just showe he was a wuss in the rain.
Still - Basso's best bet is to attack today and try to hold it together on the descent - which will be tough (as he can't descend)
Interested to read Gesink's less than complementary remarks about Samu. He basically said he was irresponsible going down hill as fast as he does!

I agree regarding his ITT, Bartali. I think he'll have a good day.

I think Samu might well beat all the rest, including Evans, in the ITT. IMO, he's Valverde's biggest rival now.

Gesink dropped on the "easier" climb.
Should get back, but his podium spot is up for grabs.

The good thing of this debate is that we merely have to wait till tomorrow to have our answer : )

It could be quite a dangerous descent with the wet roads. One more excuse for Cuddles to peddle for his losing.
I hope it is exciting but without any big crashes like we've seen of late..

I think Samu might really go for this today. Thank goodness the weather has improved here

Sanchez may have lost his chance at the stage win.
I'd fancy Valverde over the others in a sprint.

Don't see Contador staying with Astana they way he's talking now on TVE!
They had Sastre in the box yesterday as well.

Pretty stage finish. Poor young Gesink.
The only one to ultimately suffer.
Basso, once again shows that rainy downhills aren't his cup of cappuccino.
An interesting stage, but ultimately much ado about little, if not nothing.

I did like the reference to Armstrong taking everything from Astana including the Team Bus.

Berto's still there - just been practising his English
I'm watching the body language - I think Berto knows something but isn't telling!

It seems almost implausible that he'd race for Astana. I mean what kind of team would they even have? I've read of many problems, notably money.
I'm sure whatever AC knows, he's not telling yet. I doubt he'd announce a team mid-race, ala Dopestrong

Presumably Astana are just holding out for as much as they can to release Bertie from his contract.
I can't see them hanging onto him, missing out on the buy-out fee, having to pay Bertie's salary for a year and in exchange having an unmotivated rider marking time until 2011.

Contador marking time is not going to happen. He wants to win the Tour at least 6 more times. He'll do it in Astana jersey next year if he has to.
