Katusha driving a very hard pace. Poels has been dropped from the peloton and is reportedly 47 seconds down.

Bio working his magic again Evil or Very Mad
kathy

All the Movistar team except Lastras and Brushegin are sick and have been vomiting.  They shared a hotel with Skil and Cofidis last night, but none of them are sick!

Mind you at least you know how I feel now when Huw turns up liking one of my picks  Wink I suppose the final insult will be Rodriguez winning today.

Don't know the reason but Taaramae has packed it in.
HuwB

Stunning descent.
Like a Grand Alp but this a smaller road.
smarauder68

Froome's gotta try...if he doesn't he's chicken shit!
HuwB

Froome cracks Cobo on a big climb?
What a larf.
smarauder68

FROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!!!!!!!
HuwB

Harmon an undisguised disgrace.
So much for not tagging dopers who haven't had a positive test.
Froome's form is even more unbelievable.
kathy

Great finsih!

What's happening?
smarauder68

Gutty performance by Cobo to come back to Froome's wheel...The text accounts on 2 sites were speculating that Froome was riding his way into Red...then Cobo suddenly found his 2nd wind....I'm guessing the diffference will be 14 secs now.
kathy

13seconds.  And my FP won!
smarauder68

With time bonuses, Froome has a shot if he can power his way to a stage win. I think his best shot will be tomorrow or Stage 20.

Stage 20 has a final Cat 1 climb about 50km from the finish, then a plateau finish...if Froome can crack Cobo on the flats with help from Wiggins, they could cause problems for Cobo in a time-trial like finish.

So what was Harmon saying? Focussing on Cobo and ignoring Froome?

Well done Kathy Smile

I didn't mind him shouting Go Chris! that's acceptable nationalist bias, (even if the guy is Kenyan) under extremely exciting circumstances.
However, he persists in more or less calling Cobo a doper, without actually saying the words.
"Cobo looking as if he's not even trying, again." was about the best of it.
Hard to miss. Picked up on the CN forum, too.
smarauder68

Maybe he was speculating about the ease  in which Cobo climbs, not because he suspects doping, but because Cobo looks as if he weighs about 89 lbs...For my friends in the UK, that's about 6 stones.

Whilst I don't doubt the intent of any "coded message", Cobo does look very relaxed and fluid when climbing. Given the disparity in appearances vs the Sky guys in particular, one might expect him to be winning all the mountain stages by minutes!

Appearances can be very deceptive - In the Tour, even on the Galibier stage when he cracked, Berto still looked to be going much more easily than Evans and Voekler (who always looked on the point of getting off and pushing to me), but was obviously going slower (and one would assume still going as hard as he could, to remain in contention.)
smarauder68

Froome's Sky mates should try to set a blistering pace in Stage 20 over that last 50km...I reckon they could split an already reduced peleton after only 40 or 50 make the Cat 1 climb together.

Cobo will have Menchov to help, but I seriously wonder if he can keep up on the flats when the pace is hot.
KarenP

What an awesome stage.

Yeah, I'd love to see some crosswind battles in the stages ahead.
smarauder68

I would think that a smallish peloton would be vulnerable to a time trial like attack from the Skyboyz...Wiggo and Froome vs Cobo and a Menchov...Froome needs another team to help...could be some interesting deals made in the next 3 days.

Outstanding ride by Froome - if Sky had only ridden for him when he had the Red Jersey they'd have their first GT win by the end of the race.

Wiggins was asking twitter this morning about whether he should conserve 3rd place or attack for the win - what Froome did was an object lesson in answering that question

You don't find Sky and Wiggins/Froome at all suspicious? Surprised

Since when did anyone stop being suspicious???

Regardless of any doping, that was the best 5km of racing I've seen all year and probably my favorite GT stage since Stage 17 of the 2006 TDF...If that Epic Battle in the final KM was a result of doping, than count me in the minority who say let'em dope it up!
bianchigirl

MJM suspicion is taken as a given surely Wink

I think that 2 Km banner is located in a wrong place.
Nolte

disregard my post is incorrect.
Mrs John Murphy

80 is rider weight (72kg) + 8 kg for the bike.

If he weighs less then the figure would be even higher
