Didn't have time to browse the Vuelta last night.
Cunego 31st @ 29 mins is just asking for a FP if you saw it.
Huw perhaps it's your turn today, if you havn't KOD him like you did yesterday.

Mr S, I bloody knew it!
Had FP'd him for today.
Was going to stick with him, figuring he dropped that packet to go for today's stage win.....
Then I got cold feet, thought he might pack his bags and go home....
That is the trouble with the Vuelta.
You never know who's racing, until it's too late.
Especially in week 3.
Now, we have this:
Christian Knees (Milram), Jakob Fuglsang (Saxo Bank), Damiano Cunego (Lampre), Adrian Palomares (Contentpolis), Gonzalo Rabanal (Xacobeo), Alan Perez (Euskaltel), Bram Tankink (Rabobank), Xavier Florencio (Cervelo) and Kevin De Weert (Quick Step)
Peloton at 9:05
The way he's been climbing, he should walk it.
My KOD has returned for the back end of the season, big time. I may have to abandon.

Raining....Cunego will walk it.
After that......
Decending could become a factor. Sanchez will be smiling, I'd guess Basso won't.

Bartali

Cunego's going to have to win this the hard way - these boys are working him over.
Leaky driving hard now.

Cunego!

Well done Damiano.
The others really did fight it out.
Valverde, impressive in keeping his cool and catching then passing Basso & Evans. This had the look of a day Piti would have cracked and lost 5 minutes at one point.
And Samu? Some climbing he did to even beat Mosquera.
Very satisfying stage.

Yes, nice stage, lots of twists at the end. Think Samu might be Valverde's biggest rival for the GC now.

That wasn't boring.
You didn't read me saying this Bart, but Cunego did well there.

Would like to see some footage of Valverde's ride up to Evans n Basso.

Yes, absolutely. My take on it too, Samu getting stronger, with a couple of downhills and the ITT. Shades of 2007?
A much better stage. Cunego did exactly what I thought he would do, were he to stay in the race.
Now, without being too churlish, if Cadel gets a 10 second penalty, for 3 seconds on the car, how about a similar penalty for Don Ale, for the 3 or 4 major shooves up the hill when he was grovelling?
No?......I thought not.

Rather enjoyed that. Still all to play for, but Valverde looks like he came back a bit and did the business. Still plenty of little possibilities, but it looks like the ITT will decide it. I wonder if there is room for a little bit of time taking in the next week, must look at the stages. Fuglsang showing that he has something in the tank, and strong possibilities for next year. How will he mix with Schleck? Will Jacob be departing in 2011?

Valverde was asked by the TV guys "How much of the vuelta do you think you have in the bag?"
70% he said.
|
Nolte
|
more like 66.6%
as he's done 14 of the 21 stages so far.
|
kathy
|
But he has got a small lead, Nolte. That accounts for the other 3.4%!

Yes, I guess 66% + a few seconds = 70%
Chapeau to Samuel Sanchez.
Yesterday early in the last climb, when he lost touch with the leaders group - it really looked like his podium chances were finished.
Somehow he found his rhythm and got up the mountain - from what I read - faster than even the lead group although he did lose time on them.
With today's performance he's right back in it for a podium and maybe, a win even.

He subsequently denied having anything in the bag, in fact he has no idea how his name was linked to any bags. And the 70% was nothing to do with his Hct count.
He then remembered that he was in Spain so he can keep whatever he wants in any bags whenever he wants.
Hmmmm, special water bottle when in trouble on a climb. Yummy.

Does anyone know Twitter well? Is it possible to leave comments to "tweets?" I'd like to inform Lance that Damiano Cunego just won his second GT stage of the season, which, by my count, makes two more than Lance.

Yes it is. Although you might have 'twitter' at him.
But you have to cleanse yourself afterwards. Apparently he is a full time cancer fighter. Cock.

I think you have to 'join' Twitter. This appears to be quite easy, because I seem to be a member even though I can't remember applying! (They sent me an email the other day saying something about my membership).

Done.
Thanks all. Could very well be my first and last "tweet" or whatever you call it.
Unless I get some kind of reaction.

Do you have a link we can view your 'tweet' at?

Still trying to figure out if this was his official Twitter page.
