this is on the other side.
this fella's riding in into london on 19th along with the ToB, beating mark beaumont's round the world ride by a couple of weeks.
this is a nasty crash.
all the sprinters in the bus were hors delay on stage 13, and lost 25 points to the race refs instead of being allowed to leave the race.

...testing new winter bike instead...

Ouch!
Ah yes, now I remember. Stefano on the Citadel,
only two years after Kirsty Anderson picked him for the Giro stage there.....
.....when he wasn't in the race!
Instead, won by Schumi...
I hadn't forgotten. Recording and watching.

Poor Mosquera - twice bitten by the crash bug in this vuelta

10k to go with a 1-1/2 minute lead. Looks like it will be very close for this breakaway group.

Well played by Roux!

I'd say that was a bit of excitement today. Much better than yesterday's stage.
|
HuwB
|
Funny thing.....attitude. Mucho positivo today.
|
Enchantress
|
Indeed. It made for a good race. Next two stages should be interesting.
Looks like Mosquera & Gesink either abandoned or lost big time

turned put to be worth a thread after all, although there's a possibility the fast forward helped. have zeke and bobo really lost all that time?
|
Enchantress

Good news: Mosquera & Gesink still in it and the GC basically unchanged.

Great form on the podium by Roux

Mosquera needs to go to hospital for tests according to Spanish commentators. Then they will see if he can continue tomorrow.
Who's this guy Roux? No relation of the infamous Laurent Roux, is he?
I am absolutely livid! I will try and post why on the Coffee Lounge when I've cooled down a bit! It is cycling related.

Gesink also visited the tarmac, apparently....
...now confirmed.
| Quote: | Oh dear...
I'm sad to inform Gesink's injury is worse than it appears. The hole in his knee is so big, you could actually see the insides. If he can continue the Vuelta is unsure |

Great 1/2 for the French - a question: are they more visible this season because of better training/kick up the arse from the Badger - or is the playing field just a little more level?
Shame for Gesink

Sounds from all reports as though Mosquera has concussion or something similar - loss of consciousness, blurred vision, headaches.

Well, it looked that way, as we saw him having to change his helmet, after the crash. I didn't see the crash on tv, as I had workmen in, so I don't know if they caught it, on tv.
Gesink, apologies to those with delicate stomachs:-

Let me guess - Now that the Renault deliberate Formula 1 crash has been confirmed (or at least Reanult aren't contesting the charges) there are respected journalists saying that this is the worst incident of cheating in the history of sport, which by implication means that our favourite Texan isn't the worst cheat ever?
I'm intrigued - anything that take so long to cool down from must be pretty serious!

Renault?? No idea. No, it's Youtube, and someone called the World Sports Corporation or something.

Must be the "something". A search on World Sports Corporation seemed fairly tame. Still intrigued...

Yes, they removed my David Moncoutie video - said it was material that belonged to that company. Sorry, this is what they're called
World Championship Sports Network, Inc.
How they can confuse an amateur video taken on a compact camera with something that belongs to them is beyond me. They just haven't looked at it properly. And why that one and not the other two? I'm still mad, but what really annoyed me was Youtube's attitude. I know it's a standard message, but it sounds really threatening. I think it's disgusting. Anyone know a good alternative to Youtube?
Edit That company owns Universal Sports - thought they might be involved.
Just found a contact email address and sent them a rocket as well.

Hi Kathy,
I am a professional photographer and so know a little about copyright and you own the copyright to that video. If they claim it belongs to them then they are infringing on your rights, I would send them and youtube a mail (I am sure you already have though) and point that out to them. The race was in the public domain and you had every right to video and use that video. The only time you would be in trouble would be if you attempted to use the image of a rider or of the race to promote a product without their permission, that would effectively be infringing on their copyright.

try vimeo or dailymotion - those are the ones that are seen about most after the toob.
whoever got my turdovision deleted last year purported to be the cyclist involved, but could of been anybody clicking the report button. i struggled to get the tve vid of the vuelta theme to work here in the usual way, and resorted to the toob version, though.
the merkins (ctv and universal) have been extra hot on closing down cycling vid streams this year.

Thank you very much for that information, Aether. I did think that was the case. I think the problem was that I was standing below the 'official' camera, and my video was taken from about the same angle. They just haven't bothered to look at it properly.

Kathy - I hope this gets sorted. That it happened is definitely a vote of confidence in your camera skills and choice of hardware!

It was actually a lousy bit of video. The one after the finish was much better.
It's a trivial thing really I know, but it's a matter of principle.

Wow!
They are a bunch of morons and using their "mighty" weight to intimidate you and pressure YouTube. I'd imagine that if you used an alternative site to post it on then they would hunt you down there as well. They have no right to do that and should check and compare their footage more closely.
Hope you get a satisfactory conclusion.

MJ, your post crossed with my edit. I suppose they think an individual won't dare to argue with a mighty corporation.

Totally agree with you there kathy.

Kathy, do you have any video editing software like iMovie? What you could do is to put some titles on the beginning and end of the clip stating that you made it and claiming copyright, then they would have to argue your claim and it would force them to recognise that it is not their footage.
It may well be that you have suffered at the hands of an automated system, at the end of each day the race organisers, sponsors, most any company involved in an event like the Vuelta will put a search out on the web for any coverage they may have got. Generally anything they find, even if it is a small website in some far flung country will be recorded and valued for its PR worth. Possibly your video got noticed in this and they decided to take action, the people doing so may never have seen the original footage or even be capable of telling the difference between what you did and what the 'pros' did.
I would state clearly that it was 'filmed by Kathy at Stage 17' and at the end 'Copyright Kathy 2009' then reload it on youtube.

Aether, just had a look at that. Does imovie only work on a Mac? It would appear so. So then I was recommended to download something called Movie Maker, which I did. When I tried to run it, it said it only works with Vista - I have XP. I'll have another look later and find something suitable. Youtube have acknowledged receipt of my counter-claim.
Edit - I'm losing the plot. I should have checked first whether Ihave movie maker. Just checked, and I do have it already!
Edit again - I've added the titles to that clip - it was incredibly easy! I have horrors of new software now - usually get very grumpy, but that really was simplicity itself.

Aether
|
Excellent, sounds like you have it sorted both with the editing and youtube. I don't know Movie Maker but if it is along the same lines as iMovie then do persevere with it, it is fairly easy to edit your movies, add some music, take out the boring bits and make them far more interesting to watch. You could for instance of put several bit from your day together and shown it as one small film, good for us when we go to watch your day at the races
