On Eurosport now, 68 km to go.

Lulu timed it nicely to hang on for the win.

Contador is having a busy early season. Froome much more under the radar in comparison. I must go double check just how much Quintana has been competing.
Boogerd_Fan

Quintana's done 3 races so far:

San Luis - piano to 3rd
Catalunya - won by roasting the favourites on queen stage
now this...

Quintana won't wait for Alpe d'Huez this year. He's got the Tour sewn up already - Bertie is past it and requires his tactical savvy to overcome tiring legs.. Froomey won't be at same level as last year.

race days to now:
Quintana 17
Contador 20
Froomey 12

and one of froome's races was a stroll around whichever state that the herald sun  tour is in

contador has been busy, algarve, paris-nice, catalunya, basque country. it reminds me more of a lap of honour than anything else.
Fontfroide

Just catching up.  Rather nice downhill finish to watch yesterday.  More of that kind of thing please.  I think this might be a good little race, must watch.
HuwB

Most of the big names eyeball each other again, then try to make it into a stupid sprint for the line and lose out to Landa and Kelderman who went early.
Wilco now in the pound seat for the overall.

Kirby! Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil
kathy

This is a very interesting race so far.  Good parcours, could go right to the line!
Nolte

Yes, it has been interesting racing so far, each day being decided by someone attacking for the win which has made the doing hard ( well done to boogerd fan today)

8 second gap at the end puts Wilco in lead

I must say I have enjoyed the overall punchiness of the race, marred only by some ghastly commentary from Kirby.  I would like to see Tim Wellens nail one of them breaks one day...

+1

Arrate finally serves to make an impact on the GC.
Great solo ride from Rosa, but the whole stage ruined by possible the worst Kirby effort to date.
Obsession with "Si Clarke" and Sebastian Reichenbacher leads to complete confusion on the final climb. If worse than useless rider identification wasn't bad enough, the preceding hour or more of constant giggling and sniggering  was both annoying and irritating in equal measure.

I find it amazing that Eurosport consider his "work" to be of an acceptable professional standard.
gerry12ie

Hear, hear Huw.  He seems to be getting worse with every listen.  Apart from giving close to fuck all information about what is actually going on in the race in front of him, his arrogant snides, carps and moans about host broadcasters and race organisers come loaded with more than a touch of xenophobia.

The other day he even engaged in in a na-nah rebuke of a viewer who called out the 'wrong' Yates brother.

He really spoils a race for me like no other commentator has in any other sport on any other channel.  Creep.
Nolte

And his obsession about calling a lot of riders by nicknames he has made up for the riders

Pinot looks best placed for the GC tomorrow.
kathy

Yes, Sammy and Bertie - just to mention two of them.

I mentally switch off now when he mentions Clarke, or Gerrans, or any of his other favoured riders.  I don't know how Magnus keeps his cool - he seems to gently correct kirby's most evident faux pas in a very 'gentlemanly' manner!
gerry12ie

Contador wins the TT and the race.  While performing Stephen Hawking-like calculations to determine the time difference between AC and Quintana, Kirby contrived to almost ignore Henao coming in Rolling Eyes
Biosphere

I am not at all surprised - even when he announced it last year my initial reaction was "b*llocks"

Didi I overhear or see somewhere that Wiggins was re-thinking 2017 as well, or am I imagining it?
