Vino making his presence knownhttp://www.cyclingnews.com/races/chrono-des-nations-1-1/results
Sure, Fabian and Schumacher( )) weren't there, but did beat the best French TTer by over a minute. 7th at Lambardia, top 10 World TT championships, not too bad for a dude out of the sport the same length of time that Basso was. Several thoughts:
Is Vino going to be the designated Astana Classics guy next year? Unlikely, but it would be interesting to see how he could do.
Bertie is going to have his hands(brain) full next year if Vino's riding strong come tour time, The Lanciator part II.
Vino is not the least bit shy about hitting the sauce, is he?

It would be funny if the implications for the sport were not so tragic.
No wonder Pat Twat is looking for anyway he can to kick Vino out.

Nah, you've got it all wrong.
Now The Hog in Hogstrong is out of Astana's grasp, all their financial indiscretions will magically disappear.
Pat will let their year licence run.
So, it's down to our French heroes, in the shape of the ASO, to battle the evil
Kazakh hoards.
Here's what their Fearless Tour boss, Monsieur Prude, has to say.....
(via the wonderful cyclingfans)
"Vinokourov cheated, he served his suspension, and now he is back. That's life"
......on French radio...

He has been a bit of a sparkplug in several races, making his presence felt and contending for a win.
No doubt he'll be one of those problematic riders for the tour organizers.

I still think Armstrong will try to piss off the ASO by signing Roid at some point.

They want clean Cont, so they will put up with dirty Vino.
What a difference a test tube makes, when you think of it:
We can only exclude teams, and not riders, and it would out of order to ban contador's team when he's defending champion twice, so I'm resigned to having Vino around as the price for letting Alberto ride.

Floyd definitely would have a high piss-off quality if he signed with The Sack, but I think Vino at 36 would fit in much better. Second, of course, to Tyler Hamilton.

Vino has looked like a pro cyclist, even a good one in his return.
Roid for his part, looks to be entirely out of his league. In domestic events in the USA, his results have been mediocre at best.
Granted, with the right squad and (doping) experts, he'd probably return to form quite quickly. Being a bidon boy for Pharmstrong would be precisely the path.

If you do the time, shouldn't you be able to return. I think Michael Vick has more serious problems than either Roid or Vino, and he came back! Prudhomme let Landis ride? I'll believe it when I see it!

FFFloyd won't ever be at the Tour again, that's for sure. I don't see much enthusiasm from Lance for signing him up in any case; he was a journeyman pro that was transformed into a Tour rider by the USPS-sauce once, do they really owe him anything to do it again? Supposedly he has the photo of the blood couriers, but how incriminating could that photo be really? It's not really evidence of anything, certainly not that would lead to a ban for anyone or any fanbois losing the faith. It'll just be an unmarked moto with panniers. Lance has already done that loser a big favour by supporting him through all the nonsense since 06.
It's funny, I was just thinking about Fffflandis on my ride this morning - all that stupidity and pointless denial, when the best two riders in the world were thrown out on the morning of the race with very little protest. Basso and Ullrich would have smashed the crap out of Landis but left without a positive test, yet 3 years on he's still protesting his innocence when he did fail a test. Wouldn't it be awesome if that Tour could happen in some alternative universe and we could watch the ET Basso handing Landis his moaning little ass-face on every little incline?

Is that the parallel universe where JU has become the first 10 time TDF winner? There was some redneck who challenged him in 99 but he got busted and was never heard of again.
Just out of interest - everyone is saying Vino is back on the sauce - but his performances don't compare too badly to those of Basso, Scarponi etc

No. Ullrich won in 2000, but then I won from 2001 to 2005. After that I let Basso win a few. The main thing is that in 2006 he kicks Landis's ass-face.

You're getting confused between the good dopers like Basso, Millar and Armstrong, and the evil dopers like Vinokourov and Ricco.

Not saying anyone is or isn't on the sauce, but Basso has ridden well this season, but its been a drawn out process. Admit Japan Cup was v.good, but the 2009 progress hasn't been dramatic. By contrast Vino has come back remarkably quickly. That said ... they are targeting very different races ... and have very different characters.

Vino has shown, cos of his attacking style, but, has actually won nothing on the road, just ITTs of a dubious standard.

And Jeannie Longo won the Chrono de Herbiers - now there's a phenomenon

I laughed the other day when I read an interview with Landis that was cut short by himself.
"I've already said everything there is to say. There are no more questions. And if you have questions that means you haven't educated yourself and that's why you have an opinion I don't like. If you don't like the three year decision then go lobby with USADA and WADA to prevent people ever coming back. I've served my suspension. If you can't let it go I'm not going to talk to you anymore"
We'll let it go when you do Floyd
In a parallel universe where I forget to take my medication, I'm convinced the entire Pro Tour UCI Peloton thingy is an elaborate post modern joke solely at my expense.

Vick's violations weren't of the sporting type. He was punished in accordance to the laws of the crime he committed, after that it's up to his employer if they want to hire him back, and they did. The only problem the NFL would have is if there were conduct violations to which he agreed to in his contract. I'm sure there was, and just like Boonen and his cocaine habit, they probably let him slide.
That would be interesting to see what would happen if Floyd was signed onto the "golden boy's" team.
