Transfers 2014

I didn't know where to put this, so starting a Transfers thread for nest year seemed a good idea.  Trek to buy Shack's licence, with detrimental results for the Schlecks.

berck

Yeah, I read about that too this morning. Interesting move by Trek. I guess they want to make sure at least one team still rides their bikes.

Made the post a sticky. When 2013 is done, we can un-sticky that one

Talk of Leukemans to Sky so presumably EBH out?

****, luekemans wis 36 as of today.

i think the versatility of ebh means leukemans isn't going to be a replacement.  in flanders and roubaix, this year leukemans was 16 and 18. last year, he was 14th and not in it while in 2011, he was 7th and 13th so he's on the decline.

he is a strong rider but i think his role now has to be support.
Biosphere

Today being a rest day is probably a bit of a mini silly season in the absence of real news . . .

Great to see Philip Lavery go stagiare to Cofidis for the rest of the season

if euskaltel go, then it is down to 1 worldtour and 1 procontinental team from spain. a real shame that would be.

I thought they'd got the money for next year??

When I posted earlier I had been reading an aggregation of news feeds and there wasn't a URL in the app to post the link. Here it is

Is there anything more positive in the embedded link given in the above article Kathy?

They were muttering a few weeks ago that another sponsor had been found, but it must have fallen through Twisted Evil   The crisis is very bad in Spain at present, but, ironically, I think the Païs Vasco, together with Catalunya, are the two regions which are not doing too badly!

Team Nibali prefer the Vino policy to zero policy:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/a...gn-westra-and-pellizotti-for-2014

No worries about image as far as they are concerned.

Also:
Astana's a member of the MPCC. One of the MPCC rules/policies:

Quote:
- to not sign up a rider who has a suspension of more than six months [with the exception of whereabouts cases] for a period of two years after the suspension.

Franco returned in May 2012.
Boogerd_Fan

Yeah, but with teams like SKY opting to not join the MPCC, i'm pretty sure Astana are going to confirm a "mistake" in signing Pellizotti before the 2 years, take the consequences i.e. get kicked out of the MPCC... and not feel too bad about it... considering the other big name teams like SKY and BMC are also NOT part of the movement.

Quite funny, considering in the off-season 2012, they were begging to have their MPCC membership for 2013 approved.
Biosphere

So now Cavendish is back in a team with GT GC aspirations as well as winning GT stages. That worked well for him last year . . .

Rumours:
Astana is after Quintana
Cancellara and Schlecks staying with Trek
Some teams switching countries to save taxes.

Transfer rumours: Astana chasing Quintana, Cannondale to go American?

Velits brothers from OPQS to BMC

Swapping one domestique role to another... bit of a strange move, as the chance to go for GC in a GT is also limited at BMC.
Anyway, Velits told Slovak news it was a change in focus (he also dropped his old coach, and will get advices from BMC coaches).

From BR:

Belkin to ride Bianchi

Argos-Shimano to ride Giant supposedly but can't find any confirmation of that.
Boogerd_Fan

that's an interesting one... Rabo were Colnago for ages until Giant stepped in.. now to Bianchi...

i guess the celeste will go well with the lime green Belkin jersey?

I think so - the celeste green has grown on me, the most distinctive bike in the peloton i think

His name cropped up in this respect a couple of years ago.
A little orange light at the end of the tunnel, maybe.

Now, in other news, the UCI must have introduced a new, "sponsor a Colombian cyclist" rule for WT teams.

Darwin Atapuma to BMC.

Strong rumour going around that EBH is leaving Sky for BMC.
If so, is that a move forwards or backwards?
