The riders have just started their neutral promenade before they go down Mexico Way.
The  start is no where near Downtown San Diego but way the other side of the airport.

Sagan in full beast mode there... Had Kristoff wheel saw he had nothing and did a super jump to catch Wippert and Groenewegen just in time.

I have to say I LOVE watching a terrific feed for once.  Usually I have my low quality fuzzy free feed, but those Yanks know what to do and how to do it.  Watched the last k several times and realised how well Sagan reads space and race.  In addition to having the legs.  Cav could well have just left behind his train and done the same.  It was actually one if his own guys who slowed him down so he stopped peddling and one of his guys who semi-blocked his way when he slightly too late tried to find a hole that suddenly closed up.  No idea if he would have beat any of the top four, but he just was in the wrong place, with the wrong leadout guys.  Thumping on his bars a good 150 metres from the end.   Still many a stage to come, and the sprints should prove to be fascinating.  I am hoping that Cav will still win one stage, but I guess they day of him threatening Merck's record of victories in the Tour are well over.

Sagan really is quite impressive.  He sees space really well.

You betcha.  Thanks.

Great live coverage last night.
No pictures for the first 40 minutes, then the director cut away just in time to miss the bunch sprint behind the breakaway duo.

Hope they get it right tonight for the Gibraltar Road summit finish.

i think a couple of years ago when rinaldo nocentini won a stage on a saturday, they had a signal failure and missed the finish completely

oh well, california isn't known for being a hi-tech place Wink

Not even when passing through Silicon Valley.  Rolling Eyes

Sagan totally bossed that.. it was almost too confident, playing games with GVA swinging off wide to other side of racetrack, then diving back into the wheels again. But, he had the speed at the end Wink

Was good to see them go round Laguna Seca racetrack.
Carlton, as is his wont, whilst going through the layout of the final km or so in order to set the scene for any upcoming sprint, attempted to describe the corkscrew without using the word itself (other famous race circuit corners are available).  Rolling Eyes
