SRAM buys Zipphttp://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=tech/2007/news/09-22
Interesting...I'd have thought they'd buy someone else like Easton...

I would have thought Easton were too big/expensive.
Does this mean CSC will not ride Zipp next year ... or perhaps they will abandon Shimano in favour of SRAM red?
|
forza_petacchi

I hope not. SRAM is overpriced crap.

i think we'll see CSC switch to SRAM once their contract with Shimano is up

Maybe they should go to Italy and get some proper kit!

Hi HW
Am I right in thinking that Shimano is 'generally' the equipment of choice on your side of the pond?

this is nothing personal, but I do hate Campag!

kellyrocheearly

me too, always been a shimano man
|
Bartali

How can you hate campag? It looks better, its lighter and it works better - IMO!
Shimano is all well and good in its place .... that place being on a MTB

lots of shi-crappo here for certain.
i like the fussiness and clunkiness of a good campy shift...simano waaay to buttery for me.

Ok, it looks better, dunno about the weights, but by my own experience it doesnīt work better.
Had campag on my previous bike and it was problem after problem with the gears, and every time I needed a spare part it took a couple of days to get cos many shops donīt hold stock of campag spare parts

Face it - Campy is Italian, flashy, smooth and expensive. Shimano is Japanese; durable, efficient, priced fairly.
My dad is a Campy guy, always has been and always will be. Whenever I have a problem, he says "Its those cheap Shimano parts." (in jest, of course). Likewise, whenever he has a problem, I say that "Its that shoddy, overpriced Campy stuff."

Shimano
Campagnolo

WRONG!
Shimano:
Campy:

Ha ha ... and the honda is still uglier and heavier!

Yes, but it will last twice the distance that the Maserati will.
|
Bartali
|
Twice the distance at half the speed;)
Seriously ... I have never known anyone have any problems with higher end product from either manufacturer. I have shimano on my mtb and it works extremely well. But with the road kit don't you find those sticky up brake hoods with the cable sticking out of he side really ... well ugly?
Cables everywhere - I've no idea how Petacchi can see where he's going
|
forza_petacchi

Nope. Plus the cables give me something to hold on to when I do the solo break TT position.

Campy Vs Shimano is like Alfa Romeo Vs Lexus
The first one is more atractive, pretty, sexy and hot, but only has 3 year warranty, and "it will break down" associated to his name
The second one is less atractive, not pretty, not sexy and cold but with 5 year warranty and "it is the most reliable in the market" associated to his name
I hope I made sense

Well summed up Berg'
... but with the Alfa you can pull beautiful women, unlike the Lexus ....
