Early reports: Cofidis hotel raided - one rider arrested, possibly Remi di Gregorio.

I'm getting deja vu!

Meanwhile the knowledgeable, erudite Guardian readership is preparing to torch the offices of L'equipe for their rotten slurs, are pitting Froome against Contador and Schleck next year, and are comparing Bradley (should he win) to Zoetemelk, Janssen and (wait for it...) Gimondi Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes

I'm beginning to wish this wasn't happening...

I would rate Wiggins - if he wins in 12 days' time - and Evans as winners of roughly equivalent strength, let's say in the Felice Gimondi, Joop Zoetemelk, Jan Janssen category.

Sounds like they've been working the case against him since last year.

i like the idea that because the climb was only 5km (ergo 18-20mins of effort) that they could sustain 6w/kg and for it to be considered do-able.

of course we'll only find out tomorrow if the Sky Train can produce 6w/kg for 40-50 minute climbs.

the experts and tacticians at Sky probably took a look at the route, realized they could "get away" with a number of things on that first mountain stage, knowing that with the TT to back it up, Wiggo would (barring incident) be the most likely in yellow at that point. By get away i just mean, if they focused on that one they could catch some GC guys by surprise, by emptying the engine on the 5km, treat it as a long sprint up to the top and get good time on those left in shell shock.

Wonder what they planned for the next 2 weeks? Will it be consolidation (after all they don't actually need to gain time now)... or will we see them dominate?

I still believe Nibali (and to some extent Evans) will have a say in who wins this Tour. They are peaking for these next 2 weeks, while it looks like Sky have targetted to get a lead and then try to defend it (same as in other smaller ASO tours this year). Its going to be really interesting to see what happens tomorrow.

Of course if they ride the Columbier like its not even there, then something fishy is going on.

I found it thanks. Got bogged down by about 70 comments in. There was a gem in there about Spain going down the scientific route too. Probably not the kind of science the poster had in mind. Sorry Kathy.
