Olympic Track: Women to get Parity.Good news, good news.
I hate the fact that the men's face the chop, but it has to happen.
The IOC are forcing "Dinosaur" Pat to adopt the same number of men's and women's track events.

Read down, to see who the DT says might stop Vicky P!

Yes, I read it, Huw
I don't think losing the Madison is a big deal, is it? Although it's one of the track races I enjoy watching, it always seems to be a bit of a lottery.

Tough call to decide what stays and what goes. Interesting story in the Heroes, Villains and Velodromes (is that what it's called) about the decision to drop the Kilo - McQuaid made out it was the Olympic commitee's decision, then changed his story and said that 20 National teams (out of something like 70) had been sent a questionnaire to vote on which discipline should be dropped, what he didn't tell them was that if they voted for certain disciplines, those votes wouldn't count! Lying, cheating, so and so. Bet you he even dopes or is that he's a dope????

Yes, MJ, that's what it's called. For my shame, I only finished reading it, last week. Another McTwat run around.
So nice to be able to talk freely here, as I won't post anything elsewhere and I've had to bite my typing finger, twice elsewhere, tonight.
I've even been called a girl!
Anyhow, one has made the posh papers now.
However, they fail to mention that, if the team sprint comes in, then the main opposition becomes, hopefully, the other half!
As for future Olympics.....well....maybe more golden opportunities......
Still, if it were swimming, we wouldn't have this issue, in the first place.

I wrote a short sports report for the Telegraph once, Huw. Does that give me a claim to fame?

Just seems strange to cancel events when there's the simultaneous complaint that there's not a lot happening at the Velodrome for spectators. Swimming had 34 gold medals in Beijing whilst cycling had 10
You'd think a Belgian head of the IOC would do better.
Edit: Realised my comparison wasn't entirely accurate as track had 10 gold medals. Cycling had 18 in total. Still don't make sense IMO.

but bmx and mountain biking are not really cycling, are they?
ok, i agree there be an equal amount of men's and women's event/. however i disagree with cutting the men['s event
but as a compromise, how about 1 male event is eliminated, 3 female events are added. this would bring the amount of events on the track to 2004 levels before they cut the 1km and 500 meters event for bmxing which is an aversion

I had my picture with Trevor Sorbie (hairdresser) published in the local rag!
And good on the guy, he was a mega hairdresser in his heyday and now concentrates on cutting wigs for women who've lost their hair due to chemotherapy.
Sorry, not trying to hijack thread.

It makes no sense.
Watching swimming is shit.
Yet the same person can swim for 20 gold medals, they start at one length then add a length per medal till the race gets too boring even for the boring people who like to watch boring swimming.
It's almost as if people's interest in cycling is being intentionally throttled.
The only solution is for the major players to blanket boycott all UCI track events not included in the Olympic programme - hit them in the world cup programme. Force the UCI to grow some balls.

Re: Olympic Track: Women to get Parity.
They had DB on BBC's coverage earlier and he was raving about an up and coming rider called B James...

R.A. James - first ever female Olympic triple gold medal winning cyclist?
It's possible.
