Stage 18:Thurs Sept 17th, Talavera de la Reina - Ávila 165km
stage 18
Not as easy as it looks.
This comes 50kms from the finish.......
Pretty much like Cati, in terms of length and gradient.

One day I will get to Avila to see a stage finish. Thought about it this year, but have been away a couple of days, and only got back this afternoon.

Weather has been 'unstable' in Spain for several days. Just missed getting caught in a downpour on my way back yesterday - it had obviously rained a lot here while I'd been away. This morning I went out in bright sunshine, but a chilly northerly wind - very unusual for September. Now it's cloudy and dinstinctly chilly. Global warming - forget it - global freezing more like!

Tom Danielson (Garmin-Slipstream) has retired from the Vuelta a Espaņa.
Another abandon to add to his palmares. He also fell, yesterday.
Gerald Ciolek has withdrawn from the Vuelta as the temperatures drop to just eight degrees.
kathy
Nine degrees according to spanish commentators. Brrrr!
The weather is very unseasonal though. Downright cold!

Well, well deserved by Deignan. He did most of the work.
Classy of Kruzeiger to come level with Deignan and more or less make it a straight up race.

Aaargh.....I fell asleep, after the "Big" climb and only saw the last 4kms, not that I appear to have missed much.
Deignan adds to Cervelo's super season's tally.
At least Kreuziger showed his face.
kathy
I thought Deignan had blown that - looked as if he was doing too much work. I think Kreuziger knew he didn't have the legs though. Was Sean getting excited? I watched on TVE.

I had the same exact thoughts - the Deignan was doing way too much and that Kreuziger would sit in and easily win the sprint.
Guess RK sat in because he had nothing left!
Watched on spanish TV so can't comment on SK's reaction...
maffy
also watched tve, don't speak spanish, and had the sound off. good win though. top ten.
