LOL!!! Laughing  Laughing

The Chicken is tearing it up in Mexico for real!  Pretty funny, CN had to use an old picture from his RABO days.  He put 9:41 into the second place guy (teammate) in 110k and had this to say:

"We worked very well as a team today and they are the reason that we are doing so well," Rasmussen said after the stage. "This was a very hard stage today. But, we have a very strong team and I believe we will be able to continue controlling the race until Puebla. I have enjoyed racing at the Vuelta Ciclista a Puebla."

Some were upset when LA was beating up on the local pros, but this takes the cake.

Pardon ???
Have you been up Sherriffmuir yet. ??
Ralphnorman

Nope
Juggernaut

What is this Sherriffmuir you keep referring to? Is it some Scottish rite of passage that I haven't come across yet?
Ralphnorman

It's a hill thats about 5 miles away from my house.
Juggernaut

Just had a look on google maps. Normally go Braco->Kinbuck->Dunblane->Bridge of Allan when I'm cycling that way. Is worth going Greenloaning->Sheriffmuir->Bridge of Allan instead?

ps sorry for derailing a chicken thread. I'm sure he could get up Sherifmuir faster than anyone, but one midge bite and there'd be nothing left...
Ralphnorman

If you can get up it then it would be a good route. For those of us who don't climb that well, going round it is the best option Wink Watch out for the hairpin bend  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked
Me, a fan?

Anybody have a profile of this climb??  Or at least know length/grade?  Sounds nasty!
Ralphnorman

Its about 2 miles long, the first mile is a killer. The average is about 5-6% but the first mile is about 9-10% i reckon.
Ralphnorman

Looking at it on gmaps, the first half mile is about 15% average. Here's most of the climb:

I didn't know it was on. Too busy training for a sherriffmuir attempt that was aborted. Was out yesterday and was climbing out the saddle when my chain slipped off and i bashed my knee against the bars. Note to self, get new bike.
MAILLOT JAUNE

Ouch!
Hope your student grant helps you get a new bike - better than spending all you money on books - there're a lot of "books" available online.

Those knee's again.
Forgot to ask how you solved the problem last year with your Physiotherapist

Note to him also - get new bike with smaller gears.

I see that Cavendish is still "Fast" also. !
Ralphnorman

He gave me stretches to do with seem to have made the pain less frequent. He reckons that it won't go away until i stop growing. Smaller gears would be great, the smallest i have right now is a 42/28 and it's very hard work getting it up things that are about 8-9% or over.

Whoops, 42/28 well that's a 40 inch gear and if you don't know what that represents. ??

One revolution of the pedal crank will give you a meter of travel.
That should be small enough if you spend some time in it. Rolling Eyes
Ralphnorman

I spend a bit of time in it and it's too big for me to use on the steep parts of the climbs.
