Marmotte 2008Okay, I admit it. Today's TdF stage got me thinking. Why not ride the Marmotte in 2008. Four climbs - 3 x HC and 1 x 1C !! Anyone care to join me? It's usually around the first Sunday in July.

That was my plan last time, but I just couldn't face it when the morning came round. I'll go for it 2008 though.
It was good to watch (it's mass start rather than pure TT). The guy who won shipped his chain 70m from the finish and ended up running the last 70m with two pursuers sprinting to catch him. He made it by a couple of metres

I would be keen on that.
This is something you want to organise quickly so we could get a hotel in Bourg d Orsans.
You can stick the TT, as I will have one hell of a hangover that morning.

Id love to, but I cant see making it in 08 either physically or with time committments. I hear Corix de fer is a BRUTE.

Last year I'd been riding for so long I thought I was about 5km from the top ... that's when I passed the sign that read 17km to summit!
Beautiful climb though!

you can always do it in two halves - doing out and backs from Bourg D'Oisans. I tried to do the loop in 3 days a few years ago (it was the year of the Alpe d:Huez TT as I saw a couple f pro teams training in the area) but my knees gave in after the Alpe d'Huez and I did the rest as DS in the car, cheering on my companion.
Croix de Fer is stunning. It's all pretty amazing - although the road up to Col de Lauteret is far too busy for my liking (tunnels and lorries not a good combo).

I've gone with a tour company to take the hassle out of the whole thing - so got a guaranteed place
