Legbreaker Challenge 2007

On the 22nd of July I am going to do this event, www.legbreaker.co.uk (donīt get pull out by the name).

Anyone fancy doing it????
chasm

I do fancy it, actually, but I can't guarantee my availability that weekend so I'll have to decide nearer the time.

While we're on the subject, I'm doing the cyclone sportive in Northumberland on 16 June. http://www.northernrockcyclone.co.uk/CycloneChallenge.asp#

Not quite as tough as yours, but still 160km with 2374m of climbing. There's still (just) time to enter, if anyone's interested.

Looks good! I'd like to join you, but unfortunately I will be on my way back from may date with destiny in Foix on 16 July!

I thought about the northen one but I can't do it that weekend!!!!!

If you go to www.everydaycucling.co.uk there is a list of events for the whole year, maybe we could pick one up and do it a few of us, like a Justcycling party!!!!

My challenge for next year!!!

I'd be interested in reading a thread started by you devoted to recording your preparation for l'Etape. Sort a of a diary of training, etc. What do you say? Too personal and private? Anyone else interested in what Bartali is going through, physically and mentally, in his training?
bianchigirl

absolutely - I'll never do it myself but I love to live vicariously Wink

yep. In fact Id love to see more of everyones own personal rides, training and suffering.

Last year as I began wirking with a coach every week I did one day of sprint training for power building. My workouts come in minutes of this or that, and under submax (sprint) it said 7. I do 15 second bursts...or 4 per minute, times 7 minutes, thats 28 sprints, with recovery time in between. It was brutal. And my total time for the day was supposed to be 50 minues or something...so nearly 2 hrs later, I figure he botched the ride time. When he looked my HR log over he couldnt believe it, and I asked why? he meant 7 sprints in total...not 7 cumulative minutes!!! I literally buried myself that day. Oh yeah, that came with 2500 feet of climbing because 1/2 my sprint is uphill at 6%!! Heres my HR log from that day.

Fu....

hw !! You animal !! My HR would have been around 195 bpm for the sprints!

How was your recovery after that little misadventure ??
bbnaz

I do believe he had an operation..................

I was completely busted. I live at the top of an 11% climb that 500 m long...and I had to weave the entire way. I was damn proud, but my quads were totally fried...and the next day I had a two hr tempo workout.

As for HR. My max is around 185. The 15 second sprints are about 10 secs too short for me to hit my max.

Why not? If we looked for an event in, say, September it would give people time to rearrange their schedules. Any suggestions? There's the Cumbria challenge at the start of September, but of course I'm biased in favour of that because it's in the North. Maybe a Midlands event to be fairer? Or maybe Headwind could sort us out an event in Tennessee? (Though after reading about how he trains I'm not sure I'm up for it. LOL)

Okay! Don't forget I'm nothing like a 'technical' in my training as some of you guys, but I'm more than happy to share.
