IT stuff

Guys/Gals and non-gender specific chums.....for any of you running an Internet Explorer based browser system beware, there are a couple of new trojans doing the rounds that work as a binary pair, you have one tab open they will open two in the background...etc etc etc you can see where that's going. I ripped ours out the other night, from all the machines in here, at one stage this laptop had 15 browsers running despite only having one open and I wondered why things were a bit slow!! Most of the main sweep systems are picking them up just beware

I was made aware of 1 set of updates they were doing which would take the boards down but it was only a short outage

Thanks for the warning ss.
Would any normally anti-virus software pick that up, like AVG, McAfee? Or do you need spyware as well?
Not too hot on these things - maybe that's why I've been having laptop problems???? Rolling Eyes

The only time I've had problems with issues like this was when my kids were using IE. Once I banned it, things have been fine ever sense. My advice about IE has always been, run away from it. Hide it off the desktop and install something like Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or Safari.

I had that problem a couple of months ago with IE.  Despite the fact I had up-to-date AVG.  Took me a couple of hours to get rid of it (I finally fell back on my old friend - System Restore).

Wife and kids was the reason IE based stuff was still there. If i'm not about it's easy for them to solve problems with the ISP people if it's the ISP's relevant browser......but most if not all are IE based. All now running Firefox but it was 6hrs Friday evening and 12 hrs Saturday to get them all done!!
