I'm thinking / hoping this might be Nibali's Smile
Biosphere

Well he seems to be in a bit of form at the moment - his season could do with a good finish.

Supposedly his turn to pay homage to the Kazak Overlords and he's actually Touring in Almaty. New pick please.

I imagine Kathy might still be happy to accept a replacement pick in the near future.

The break of the day currently has a gap of 7mins with 150km to go. And it's raining on them.

Quote:
Stefan Schumacher (CCC Sprandi), Enrico Barbin (Badiani CSF), Jan Polanc (Lampre-Merida), Matteo Busato (Southeast), Dennis Van Winden (LottoNL-Jumbo), Simon Geschke (Giant-Alpecin), Pier Paolo de Negri (Nippo-Vini Fantini), Marco Canola (UnitedHealthcare), Cesare Benedetti (Bora-Argon 1Cool and Oscar Gatto (Androni Giocattoli).

Surprised RAI don't seem to be coming on air much sooner than the rest of the world? It wouldn't happen in Belgium Rolling Eyes

Astana still setting the pace in the bunch.
Biosphere

RTS (French Swiss) gone live before the Italians. Nibali + 3 Astana crested the Madonna at the head of the bunch a few moments ago.
Bartali

why does this idiot keep saying each meter is marked out?  Just how big does he think a metre is?

Metre of altitude Smile
HuwB

Astana have completely blown up the peloton on the Muro di Sormano.
3 of them, plus about 2 others were left.
Re-grouping taking place on the descent, but some big names will never see the bunch again.

Less than 5 metres apart. Smile
Biosphere

Astana going for all 3 on the podium Wink

Wellens and Kwiatkowski take quite different lines in the corners.
Nolte

Have they mentioned what the time gap is from  wellens/flower to grupo astana?
Biosphere

About 35s. Gilbert at about 1:00. Peloton at 1:15.
Fontfroide

Always a bit sad to watch guys get dropped.
Bartali

So far the most enjoyable monument of the season IMO
Fontfroide

Especially with your boy attacking and looking good..
Fontfroide

What a tasty group of seven, you could almost drool.
Biosphere

German Eurosport finding Vinokourov's men unbelievable.
Fontfroide

Valverde seems to be waiting and sucking wheels.  What a surprise!
Moreno moving to Movistar next year?
Bartali

Seven left and one climb to go.
Bartali

GoNibs ....

HOW are the ever going to catch Nibali?  Such a pretty descent.  I think he knows the road.

Did he really take 25 seconds on the descent?

No. He took 41!
Fontfroide

These chasers need to CHASE!  PINOT!
Bartali

Come on Nibs ... go again ....
Fontfroide

We have been witness to a master class.  Delighted.

Valverde got his just rewards for a little too much sucking of wheels.  Nothing wrong with a bit of it, but he sometimes misses out when he waits and waits and waits.  One of those occasions.  On the other hand, I doubt if anyone but Sagan could have followed Nibali down those descents.  It really was pretty.
mazda

Excellent.
What a descending masterclass.
Sagan has the edge on power, and maybe handling just as good, but Nibs is supreme through the corners.
Going round the outside of the motorbike when the bike was letting him through on the inside to all intents.

To be fair to Moreno, he was riding strongly and not just riding for Valverde.

Loved the way Rosa rode as well, the co-ordination in the chase was woeful (as usual).
Bartali

Rosa was a star today. He chased everything then played disruption tactics all the way to the end.

He was more of a star on Thursday.

You are right Huw, I saw the video.  Today he was a brilliant and tireless worker.  He was so good, I am surprised no one told him to fuck off.  Maybe they did.

Did anyone else feel that there was a distinct lack of fallen / falling leaves this year ?
A random variation or a distinct movement of the seasons ?

Movement of the cycling season

Nope, I checked the dates of the last three and they are all end of September or beginning of October.  It has been a very hot summer in the south of France, a scorcher.  And still has not got really cold yet.  today I raked up my first leaves and I expect it is just normal variation.
Biosphere

And before that it was mid October. Used to be last race of season and effectively two weeks later in Autumn. And the route is not constant either. May or may not be a less leafy route some years?
